THE NUMBER OF CROSSOVERS. I LOVE YOU.

Tolkien! Indiana Jones! Lovecraft! Military uniform fetish! The snake in his trousers! The Luggage! I could go on.

This was AWESOME.

YAAAYY! This story was reference-o-rama! I was shameless! And you are so good at them! :D Also, FYI, Rommel's fictional flamboyantly gay brother is the main character of Donna Barr's brilliant comic The Desert Peach: http://www.desert-peach.com/

Please give the artist some love too, folks!

Aww. <3 Awesome, I shall check it out.

That brilliant style is unmistakeable. ;) I LOVED both pictures. Aziraphale looks SEXY. And oh my, the second picture. If I wasn't worried about my parents' reaction it would be my wallpaper!

*sigh* I can't hide! XD I really wanted to do a much... sexier picture, but it just wouldn't cooperate. Maybe later on. Besides, if I had done it here, you probably couldn't have viewed it at home!

I thought I'd read some good GO fic but this is a completely different league. I bet it was fun to write (and draw, not-so-secret artist!) And my word Aziraphale looks good in SS uniform. I also can't help feeling that line about Aziraphale having 'to do research' was a little autobiographical? Anyway - loved everything about this - it was more in-depth than the original Book. Would definitely love to read more from you.

Now, what ever would possibly make you think that? ;)

However, my feelings on 'The Blue Light' are the opposite of Crowley's. I confess to having a soft spot for Leni Riefenstahl, and that film is the reason.

(tries to hide - FAILS) XD Yes, he really does look good, darn him. I don't have a uniform fetish, by any means, but he just about gave me one.

As for reading more by the writer... just wait. When the reveal comes tomorrow, I will be SURE you get a link to much much, more :)

My dropped-out recipient requested a mystery/horror story in the style of H.P. Lovecraft, so all the serious horror/Unspeakable Rites aspects of the story are my pitiful attempts at pastiching his style.

Other than that, as far as references go: Casablanca, Cabaret, The Sound of Music, Indiana Jones, The Desert Peach, and J.R.R. Tolkien TWICE! Wanted to do something with Inglourious Basterds and Ilse: The She-Wolf of the SS, but didn't quite get that in. XD

I did not strong-arm the artist into anything (although she worried her distinctive style would blow my anonymity too). I just made sure she had the opportunity, and she went above and beyond. :D

The amount and weaving of crossovers is just staggering.
I've tried to leave it to commenters far more eloquently steeped in them than I to elaborate the specifics. :-)
It's just this thunderstorm of dazzling imagery (both written and drawn/visual), breathtaking and magnificent. Thanks for it.

Thank you sweetheart. I really enjoyed writing it. It was a little world I could really get immersed in, and that's really all I ask as a writer. :)

SO GOOD!

Oh my gosh! I had a bit of trouble keeping up with some of the references to things that I am unfamiliar with, but oh my stars was this a fun ride.

The LOTR reference during Crowley's begging caught me off guard and I had myself believing it was unintentional. Silly me. My favorite reference was the Cabaret. I had to listen to that song on repeat and then I watched the scene and got a marvelous image of Crowley reenacting it.

Yay for the art and the loveliness that is the full picture of this story. Great job!

Sometimes, I think I'm so used to V's writing that I don't even notice when there's something unfamiliar. XD Just makes me go research and fall in love with new stuff all the time.

Thank you :) I do love this job!
