I'm going to split the weekend's events into 2 posts because there's just too much stuff.
Backing up a little to last (last) weekend when I went to the lolita English lesson thing, we stopped in Closet Child and I bought some goodies.
Goodie #1: MILK Gobelin Dress on deeeep discount. CC was having a mini sale so I nabbed it. But when I got it home I realized it smelled a bit on the skirt part like funky Japan funk - like musty mildew. I've heard people recommend spraying garments with vinegar or vodka or various liquids and leaving it in a plastic bag for a week but that sounds so ineffective and possibly damaging. Any advice? It's also too small (as usual pfft) but it has pockets <3
Then I went up to the goth floor and bought a cool Excentrique necklace. It reminds me of
Justice and how they always use some kind of cross floating in space for their logo XD
And then on the 3rd floor (otome) I spotted something I wish I hadn't (or my wallet wishes I hadn't?). Some girl was trying it on and I was Jedi-mind-tricking her and hoping she wouldn't want it. When she left without it I tried it on and it fit wonderfully so I had to get it :S It's....
It's so nice and isn't tight and is so comfortable and has pockets! Annnd when I brought it home I realized the tags were still on the inner lining!
So now fast forward to Saturday. I knew I'd be wearing Antoinette Fleur on Sunday so I wanted to go for something comfortable. I wasn't even sure if I'd be able to get into the KERA thing since I registered but didn't get a confirmation email. So I decided to wear my newly acquired JM dress.
I showed up at the location (Christon Cafe) a few minutes before it was supposed to start. They looked for my name on the list but like I thought it wasn't on there, but they didn't care WOOT. I went in, grabbed a free drink (non-alcoholic, of course) and the whole floor was full of table and booths. It was the same area that they have Tokyo Decadance in. Well the booth area looked like it was all taken and for people who knew each other so I headed to the table zone. There I spotted
maetel9 and was like CAN I SIT HERE?? I'm so happy I saw someone I knew!
All the tables and booths had big plates of desserts and fruit on them which was a nice surprise. But we were all good Japanese children and didn't touch the food until the end of the event hah.
I kind of forgot the order in which the events occurred but whatevs. The first thing was a fashion show by indie brand Princess Doll since the designer had graduated from Ueda but before there was a Gothic Lolita Fashion major. Like I expected, the whole thing was really a recruitment event and showing how great the school was but I didn't care because it was free! The Princess Doll clothes were quite nice, but the stuff made by students of the school
was pretty frickin ugly. I know they were trying for avant garde but most of it just went into hot mess territory. There was a kooky wedding dress fashion show as well which I thought were much more well done even though wedding dresses seem a lot harder to perfect than lolita dresses.
They interviewed the designed of Princess Doll and how she got her brand started, and her friend Midori the model came out and chatted too. Then the interviewer just interviewed Midori and Kimura Yuu and asked them some dumb questions about being a lolita or whatever. One of the funny things was when she asked them what was the hardest thing about being a model and they both went on a tangent about how they sweat in the summer but they have to look like they don't so their stylists are wiping away their sweat all the time and they get scolded not to sweat but you can't control your sweat zomg!
No pictures were allowed sadly but as the event wound down some people were doing it and it seemed to be ok so I took a few.
Finally at the end of the event they asked us to do a survey (everyone got a packet of stuff when they went in including the survey, a little blank notebook with an Imai Kira illustration on it and some promotional material for the school). So that was my cue to start eating. I always hate how much food is leftover at Japanese parties and events. There's just no culture of doggy bags so everything sits on the table to ultimately get thrown away.
Most people were very extravagantly dressed - I saw lots of bonnets! I think they're trendy now. And lots of florals and classic designs, some by AP, but not so much pastel baby prints. Interesting. There was a whole table of 5 or 6 older brolitas. I love that they're doing what they love even if they look completely crazy!
Some people who signed up in advance got to take pics with Midori or Kimura Yuu, but I didn't know that was even going on so I missed out. Here you can see the event is pretty much over but the giant food plate remains almost untouched.
Some girl liked my outfit and wanted a pic with me! dawww
So I got one of her and her friend too!
I frightened this girl really bad because I wanted a pic together oops... she was waiting to take a pic with a gothy model and I kind of came up behind her lol
Thanks for putting up with my annoying comments, Alice/
maetel9! That would make a cool wedding outfit actually.
We were standing around after and Kimura Yuu came out to chat! She is like the tiniest creature on earth. Her waist must be 50 cms or something D: And eventually Midori came out too! She changed into her street clothes which incidentally were the same navy JM logo print skirt and a top! I was too shy to ask for a triplet pic but I found one of her alone later on tumblr. I think she might have been twinning with the other girl since they seemed to know each other.
We all oohed and ahhed and swooned about JM for a little while and how it's so nice but expensive.
Then I left with Alice for Shinjuku Closet Child where luckily I ddn't find anything I wanted, whew XD. We parted ways then since I wanted to go to Harajuku to look for some shoes and a bag to match Antoinette Fleur. I realized I only have dark colored shoes and bags! I had one pair of beige heels that might have worked but I knew they were going to kill my feet after a whole day of touring gardens so I decided to try for something new. And that dress is too fancy to go with flats or some of my more casual bags. It was a bit of a challenge to assemble the right outfit but I think it all worked out.
They recently changed the iconic Takeshita gate into this new weird electronic thing.
There's a camera on it and you get displayed on the screen~ that's me.
I popped into Bodyline looking for a new petti (Antoinette Fleur is a heavy ass petti squisher) but they were all too expensive for the value of the materials imo. However I was quite surprised at how unobjectionable this set looked. It's made of a gobelin-like fabric. It didn't look bad at all.
And that's all for Saturday! Sunday report to follow eventually.
