Can anyone suggest real-time video capture software for the Mac that is either (a)free or (b) inexpensive? I have been asked to look into making some videos of how to use a specific software package, and something that can capture video of what I'm doing while I do it is what I'm looking for.
Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

There are other products: IShowU HD is also good, but not as good (IMHO) as SnapzPro X. But it's $29.99 and may give you what you want. The "Pro" version is $59.99.
BUT - if all you want to do is capture a screen recording, no frills - you can do that with Quicktime (Provided your Mac is running Snow Leopard or Lion). Here are the instructions. Note - it can be a little wonky to set up audio and you have to capture the whole screen. The two products mentioned allow you to just capture a pre-defined area.

For other solutions, the proper search term is "screencast." And some of my friends have recommended, if I recall correctly, "screencast.com."
