One Day is excellent - I must read it again. It's like a sudden injection of gloom and despair; short, and yet so full of detail. The theme of all the inmates being reduced from artists, soldiers, politicians and intellectuals into uniform zeks is quite horrible.

Bumpy was right, my LJ *was* absolutely definitely (erm...) not for posting anything except comments on friends' LJs and updates from my photo site.

Gnome's complaint is still fair in spirit, in the sense that I didn't actually do either of those once I'd set my LJ up.

Then this weekend I caved (free time - whooooo!) and started posting Stuff. No new piccies yet though.

Thence, for her greater security, she was taken by water to Nottingham', where she probably sought refuge in the castle. Then Melton hurriedly gathered together an army of monks and old men and bravely marched to confront the Black Douglas. But they were no match for the Scots, and on 12 December were savagely defeated at the Battle of Myton-in-Swaledale; because so many clergy were slaughtered, this battle became known as the Chapter of Myton.

Erm, rather dense historical text from Isabella: She-Wolf of France, Queen of England, by Alison Weir, which I spent most of the flight back reading. :)
