Unfortunately though, although I am 'only' 400 miles from where I grew up, things are very different here. It might still be Britain but it certainly isn't England.
It's funny when and where nostalgia takes you. I know what you mean about somehow capturing the things that made your childhood joyful and passing them on to your kids. At the end of the day, you spent a lot of years generating the material for those happy memories and they are your edited highlights and you will have a lot of years to pass them on through visits and stories. The thing is to never forget that Rose is now recording her own highlights now and to think of the times of joy you spend together in the present, again remember, her every day doesn't need to compare to your highlights, but just think of the special things you have done together this last year and will do next year, these are her memories to be.
Awww. thankyou Ken.. Although I suppose what you've just said should be obvious, I never quite thought of it that way. I don't think you've cancelled out my homesickness, but you have certainly made it easier to bear - for today at least! I'll bookmark this entry so I can come back to your response, if you don't mind.
