LJ IDOL - I DON'T CARE ABOUT APATHY

Nov 14, 2009 17:28

I don't like bullies. I do like smart and well written humour. I don't like writing that passes itself off as "smart and well written" when it's just a blatant attempt at stirring the pot and bullying. It's so last season ( Read more... )

Clearly, you missed the point, although you are welcome to your interpretation.

The primary person I was "alluding to" (which, really, since everyone who has been around for more than one season knows who I'm primarily talking about, I don't know how much of an allusion it is) has consistently been one of the primary bullies in this competition, and sometimes sacred cows need to be taken down a notch. Particularly when they attempt to turn the competition into "all about them." It's kinda funny how many previous season contestants have responded to me noting that this particularly sacred cow and others of her ilk are a primary reason for their no longer competing - because of the bullying engaged in by these contestants.

But it's gravy; at least you found something to be inspired by so you get to save your bye.

So your justification for stooping to "their" level - again no name just more alluding - is to stop it? You're right I *totally* missed that in your post ( ... )

spydielives. Ooh, I said it.

By the by, your name is also consistently mentioned as a bully by these same people. Wonder why that is?

I stand by my post. I said what other people are thinking but don't want to rock the boat to say. For every "ooh, that's mean," there's at least one "right on, I feel the same way."

You see me as bullying? Fine, your perogative. I, and many others, see it as calling out the bullies, sacred cows, and insincerity.

So that whole post was about one person, who's not in the game any more? She's all of those categories? No wonder she has a mental-immune-deficiency thing. It must be hard to be the root of all evil. Oh, but you'll just say that I'm a Spydie sympathizer so my opinions are corrupt anyways ( ... )

I'm standing with TheaFaye. Gnomeangel, you said what I wanted to say and said it well.

Interesting reply to the original entry.

It is obvious that you put a lot of thought into your reply and the passion about the topic is palpable.

You are right that interpretation of the topic at hand can vary greatly from writer to writer but that is part of what makes reading the other entries interesting.

The other part is the interpretation of the reader to what they are reading.

I saw that entry as more sarcasm than outright bullying but I can now see how others might see it as such. But we are different people with varied experiences and thus see the world from other angles.

I'm really appreciative of the original entry for giving me something to write about. I was really unmoved (is that the right word?) by the topic choices. I just couldn't find anything worth writing about. So I'm really glad for this entry, I needed the kick up the butt and this provided that ( ... )

Thank you for such a thoughtful reply.

I do think I see where you are coming from a little better having read this.

And may I say, you have a lovely writing style that is easy and fun to read.

No offense taken. I can see how that can be taken from this entry, and it's the risk you run when you get involved in something like this. (The drama not Idol.) My personal view, for what it's worth, is if you're going to air your dirty laundry in public than be prepared for someone to point the stains out in public. I also believe that there's a right of reply inherent in the game. My personal take, and that's all this is after all not gospel, is that you should be able to take what's been submitted and work with it. Whether it be in a good way, or bad. This is what motivated me this week to write and I stand by that decision. Does that make sense ( ... )

The difference between supremegoddess1's and gnomeangel's entry is there were no veiled references to 1 person. It was direct and there was no doubt as to its direction. supremegoddess1 went the round about way and many who had no idea about previous Idol history would not understand and would possibly, and in many cases probably be very offended.

Maybe we should just have a celebrity death match between supremegoddess1 and spydielives? Or is spydielives doomed to be the Idol pariah for all Idol history?

I am glad you have the fortitude to receive dissent with grace... I'm sure that was part of your point, and that you wouldn't have taken this approach if you didn't. It certainly takes guts, I'll admit that, and I can certainly respect that aspect of it. There are portions of both of your entries that I both get behind and frown upon. Hers certainly did have a few Oh-No-You-Didn't moments in it, but, since she was picking on everyone, then no one gripe seemed to stand out any worse than the others, until yours actually did single someone out, so, it was a real tightrope to walk, and, I'm not sure you came out better for it. I don't think you have any reason to worry, though... I think you'll be safe this week and for a while to come, and not without my blessing. Good luck to both of you.

Wow, who knew there could be so much drama in Idol Land. I would just say that posting a response entry only fuels that fire so to speak...and gets the original entry more buzz. I for one think her post was strategic. I mean look at all the attention it's gotten...and now a response entry. People will either love her or love to hate her. They say no attention is bad attention.

Meanwhile, I'll go back to my own little world. Sometimes, I'm so blissfully unaware of everything!

No, I agree. It's like leaving a comment on the original entry - a lot of the times it's not the entry that causes the hurt it's the responses. Does that make sense?

I debated about whether to post or not, but I really felt moved by the position that the entry put forward - which is a rare thing so I embraced it.

I agree, I think it was strategic. Actually, I think all posts are strategic, it's just that some people realize that and some don't. It is after all a game and people use your entries to form opinions about you and reactions to you. Does that make sense?

That's normally my position to, but I needed inspiration. I like writing most when I'm passionate about it. (And unfortunately that's rare so I took this as an opportunity.)

I hope all that made sense. It's all just opinion and not gospel. Just how I view things which is neither right nor wrong - just different.

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment, I really appreciate it!
