I am thinking seriously about sending a season one box set to Kripke et al and urging them to FUCKING WATCH IT. Because they need to see what they've done. Not just the wonderfulness they did in season one (which was...wonderfulness, truly) but what they've DONE since then. How they've lost their way, and lost our boys, and how they've forgotten what got all of us fangirls in a whirl in the first place.
I don't want to break up with my TV boyfriend. I want to go to the prom with him and then, you know, go to the same college and then maybe get married or something...
But, yeah. Season 3? I feel like the girl everyone is talking and laughing about because she has no idea what a mess her boyfriend is up to behind her back.
"I don't want to break up with my TV boyfriend. I want to go to the prom with him and then, you know, go to the same college and then maybe get married or something..."
I KNOW!
There were some individual episodes in S1 and S2 where I thought they dropped the ball, but I didn't care much because I wasn't so invested then. And the overall message of the show didn't seem so problematic to me back then. (I don't know if that's because it was actually less problematic, or just because there wasn't the accumulation that there is now.)
But yeah, the quality this season... It's just... YOU'RE NOT THE SHOW I FELL IN LOVE WITH, SHOW! I can't believe Ben Edlund wrote 3.09. Whut.
But I'm still glad to have the fandom. *clings to SPN fandom*
I'm not at the point right now where I'm CALLING IT OFF, OMG, IT'S OVER, but I'm just not going to be able to keep on watching with the same... um... wide-eyed fervor as before. Damnit, show.
And once something pings you, you can't be unpinged.
Fandom, for me, acts like a huge emotional amplifier. Like... like we're a radio dish array? And every little speck of canon gets bounced around in our dishes until it's big and loud. When SPN first started, it was just some show on tv that I found cute. But then I started adding SPN fen to my flist, and my love grew out of proportion to the canon, because it was buoyed up by other people, and also because part of my love was actually love for the other fans.
And by the same token, when somebody points out that hey, this show said some unsavory things, that signal comes in big and loud to me, and I'm all *HEADDESK* WOW THAT'S UNSAVORY. The disappointment's bigger because the investment's bigger.
Awesome drawing. I'm sorry spn is treating you guys roughly. Sounds like it's being a hugeass jerk. You deserve better! (I don't watch the show, but I've seen lots of pain on my flist.)
And, off-topic, but: what's a great antidote for being bashed around by canon? Destiny Calling! I finally got around to downloading it the other day, after watching it online several times, and it gets me all misty every time. It's so full of love, and it makes me glad to be here.
I loved it and it doesn't love me back! :( It obviously has no taste. *glowers in SPN's direction* I'd stretch this metaphor even further, but the slight oddness of getting all prickly on your behalf over your breakup is funny (both sorts) enough, lol ;P

I likes the hatedom art, though! Very cathartic... That Splatter is a bit interesting! It's very realistic, innit? Vector!love; tag!love.
"... Seriously? *wrinkles nose*" It's pretty messed up, I think. (6:07 to 7:10)
DEAN Yeah. Yeah, I'm Dean. Everything okay? Something wrong? (he looks over to a group of boys that are playing with a gameboy-type thing) Is that your game they're playing with?
BEN Ryan Humphrey borrowed it, and now he won't give it back.
DEAN Well, you want me to go...
BEN No! Don't go over there! Only bitches send a grown-up.
DEAN You're not wrong.
BEN And I'm not a bitch.
Splatter's really cool! I actually did a little Pollack thing for the imitation challenge with it, but... eh. I didn't post it (yet?) because I don't know about art. Hee! I mean, it's not representative, ya know?
But it's fun. I think I'll play with it some more.
"... Seriously? *wrinkles nose*" It's pretty messed up, I think. Oh, I agree. That was an "eurgh, really?" rather than an "I dunno. You think so?", hee. Sorry for any crossed wires. And after watching the clip, I can only agree wholeheartedly. I don't know which is worse: the 'bitch = woman' or 'bitch = weak' possibilites. >:|
You did?! Glee! I'd love to see, if you get to a point where you're happy to show :)

From what I've seen on my flist, I think we may be in the minority with the underwhelmedness.

It reads to me as not just a tribute to vidding, but as a love letter to fandom. I'm not a vidder, but it makes me feel loved!
