This is absolutely lovely. It was so kind of you to send a link to the finished product to those of us who commented on the draft text- I know I was curious to see how it turned out, and it has gone beyond any of my (already high) expectations. What a creative idea, and a polished piece of art.

Thank you, Melandry! Of course I'd tip you off about it. I'm very pleased that you like it. :D

Thank you! :)

I've been wanting to learn Blender for a while, but this was the first time I really played with it, for the pollen, and it's so complicated! I couldn't figure out how to use the animation controls, so I tried all these complicated workarounds involving a vrml client and screenvids, which ended up not even working. So what I finally had to do was to position each frame by hand, render it, take a screen capture, and paste it into ImageReady. It was only 16 frames, so not a huge deal, but still. Argh. And the material I used is way shinier than I'd really like, but oh well.

I'd never heard of sketchup before, though. It says it's free to try; do you know what the restrictions are on the trial version? Like, is it for 30 days, or are there nag screens?

That is UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE! *worships you*.

I'm highly impressed...and not just by the animation but by the text, the little details like the stains and folded, the cool biological names like 'whompulose' and 'salix whompea'.
You are brilliant.

LOL, *falls over*

Thank you! I love stuff like this, like your mounted kow. Things that are fictional, but somehow done in a realistic style. With some sort of real-world detail that crosses the imaginary line.

I know there's a word for that sort of thing, there's gotta be; I just don't know what it is.

Hehe. Judging by the typos in my prior comment, I really should start proofreading.

Anyway, YES! I also love this type of art. I also don't know what to call it. Fantastic realism? Realistic fantasy?

I've had plans for many years to make a bestiary of mythical creatures, which is what your artwork here reminds me of. Very cool. :D

LOL, you are too sweet!

Hehehe, I think this may be the coolest compliment I've ever gotten, ever. I had a frustrating morning, so I just stopped for a minute, and took a breath, and said hey, it's all good, you are made entirely of awesome! :D

This is really cool. The copy in the book is very amusing. Pruning is not recommended. Ever!!

The last picture is not loading up unfortunately.

Thanks a lot! :D And thanks for telling me about the broken link, too. Hopefully, it's fixed now. Sorry about that. *shoots severe looks at image host*
