Good answer- realistic... so many think that people in the past were so nice or something-- if you go to the wrong time period in the wrong country, you could get oppressed like crazy! And I didn't even think of the library of Alexandria! I'd love to see what they wrote on magic, astrology, and medicine and the use of herbs. Would any of what they wrote make sense?

Not just oppressed, but possibly kicked out or killed. People back then could be vicious to strangers.

I think a lot of what was written would have been written in Latin, or Greek, so if I could take along some kind of Babelfish, I'd be pretty set ^^
