Looking for Childcare

Can I ask how much you pay such a person? And how easy/hard is it usually to find someone?

We are thinking of banding a few families together to try to get up to a full time position for a babysitter/housekeeper for next year to help us out with childcare/driving kids around to activities/cooking and housekeeping. I'm wondering if it's a realistic idea.

lots of moms (and dads) do this in Manchester for the kids that go to Weston Elementary. Really, its just a matter of having a great neighborhood, where all the kids know each other. I have never tried to "plan" this, is just grew organically.

Sounds fantastic. I'm afraid if I want that to happen, it would take much more effort than "just happening."

A full-time position is much easier to fill than a part-time once since you don't have to work around schedules, etc. It seems like there are always people looking, although many, many more at school years starting and ending times. I don't know if adding cooking/housekeeping in changes the rate because it becomes a different type position, or if having multiple families makes it more/less attractive a position. (Probably that depends on the person, since I can find plusses and minuses both ways.) To some extent, you get what you pay for. There are certain amounts that trigger "just in it for the money" to me, so tend to be suspicious of that if they are really inflexible. Since I always round up each paycheck, I am less worried about the exact $/hr. I have heard of people who charge more per hour for fewer hours, so you might have that in your favor ( ... )
