 Good news everyone! I'm now on a laptop with better graphics than normal! Hooray!  Sadly it's my old laptop that's slower than my current one that's slower and has a lot of quirks I'd forgotten about in the year and a half since I last used it. Had to switch back though since my current laptop's power cord is almost... dead.
