Our poor Doctor still surrounded by death he doesn't want to see. I love the interactions between the family members who don't yet know their family and the puzzle the Doctor finds Jack to be. Poor Simon and the Doctor both so very scared for River and ooo nasty death you just move along lady! You can't have any more of the Dr's family on our watch *growls* Go tell her what for Doctor! Really River don't be wandering off. Hmmmm now where does that sound familiar from? What is it with the Doctor and wandering off companions.

Ah, you know... can't have a story without some danger... yeah? River isn't fully in control of her actions. The Doctor saved Ali, and the boy was meant to die, and now Death is getting her revenge. Remember the Doctor and the Eternals (Death mostly, but not only) have a rather nasty past of challenging each other.

My thoughts about Jack: Romana.... again. And of course she didn't want her role in his survival to be picked up too soon. She might not have known or even considered that the Doctor wouldn't just know who Jack was on sight (on account that normally he'd be able to read a child's biodata and just see the connections between them) and sexual abuse just doesn't happen on Gallifrey. So that's a wrinkle, perhaps one that has not been fully taken into account. Once the Doctor realizes who Jack reminds him of, then things will fall into place.
