He could hear a sonorous voice, felt the warmth of a familiar being reaching out to him. And through the endless layers of the multiverse, he could feel a fragment of the power of Oban. He leaned toward it and reached out to Jordan.
His thoughts were garbled and poorly shielded. They buzzed and screeched in mental static.
T-t-t-take me there. it hurts Grab, take my the teeth in my flesh hand, lead me through the planes for I am blind never again, never again please Jordan, please Avatar, please Oban, pull me in.

Jordan enfolded Q's consciousness and slowly drew it toward him. It was like trying to cup a sphere of water that might suddenly slip though his fingers if he exerted even the slightest pressure. The young Avatar concentrated on holding Q's essence together without spilling a single drop.

But for an entity that existed beyond the physical universe, words like "through" and "down" had little meaning. A dark aperture like a mote of shadow opened near Jordan, and an invisible presence slid out of it. Q's form could not be seen but it was eerily extant, and felt far larger than a human. It hung heavily in the open space of the Womb; thin swirling threads of plasma belied its presence, but could only be seen if Jordan concentrated hard enough.
Q began taking in the energy Oban emitted immediately. To Jordan it felt like a rush of air filling a vacuum. Already the static of his thoughts began to fade.

Jordan wondered briefly if the swirling threads of plasma was Q's "true" form, or if he even possessed a true form at all before willing himself back to his private apartments. He sat down on the edge of the bed and heaved a sigh. That little "rescue mission" had been more difficult than he first thought.
He stood and went to the wood-burning stove and put a kettle of water on. He could use a cup of tea right about now.
