you don't *have* to wait for the cord to stop pulsing, it's just something that can be beneficial. i think it can help prevent jaundice and anemia in the baby. also if the baby is having trouble breathing at first they will still be getting oxygen from the placenta while it's still pulsing, until the cord is cut.

Why do you have to wait for the cord to stop pulsing before you cut it? Don't you just... kinda... whip the baby out and whip everything off?
