So, I'm kind of a luddite and don't know how to download things sometimes, and also for some reason a bit squeamish about the idea of podfic, I think it's misplaced embarrassment because every time I hear my own recorded voice I think DEAR GOD THAT CANNOT BE ME so I guess I assume I'd feel that embarrassment while listening to other fangirls -- "because we're all the same!" -- reading fic? Also because wouldn't listening to porn be awkward?

BUT THEN I see so many of your stories that I love so much are podficced here and I think about how I could, like, go through my day basically living inside Wincest World...and I think it might be time to get over my dumb objections.

I definitely feel you on the awkward -- at first I suffered from extreme second-hand embarrassment when faced with the idea of fic read in someone's voice other than my own reading-in-my-head voice. So I was even more surprised that I absolutely loved it. It's definitely a different experience than reading text on a screen, but is super awesome in rl situations that pull you away from your couch, especially when at work (if you can get away with it) and when driving. I mainly listen to it while driving actually, in 15 minute installments.

That's not to say it's everyone's cup of tea, but I've found it super fun, and I really dig the collaborative aspect of it. Also if you need help downloading or whatevs, let me know!! And if you are harboring a secret-even-to-yourself desire to podfic, I will show you how to edit things!!!!!!!!!!

Okay so I def have more to say but for now I had to jump over here to tell you, I'm having an evening in since we're predicted to get a storm tonight so I'm sitting here with my knitting and a glass of wine and listening to "Learn to say the same thing," one of my favorite stories of ALL TIME, and I think I just scared my dog with how badly I cracked up at "My name is Sam ... I like books." :D I listen to a lot of audiobooks because I drive a lot and I've often marked the different experience of reading vs listening to a familiar story, the things you notice and the things that strike you, so I'm beyond glad that I got over my stupid hangups about podfic because this is the best thing ever. <33333
