*heart heart* They really don't have any room for grays, even (especially?) now with Bucky going nearly catatonic over what he did.
"Snakebite" was one of those lines that condensed and crystallized the whole thing for me. It may also have emerged like the tip of a waving tentacle from the id's surface. *shifty* At any rate, Bucky knows better than anyone how to communicate with Steve.
Paris! It's early in v.5 when Steve's there with Sharon, reminiscing about the liberation, and the scene almost killed me. I guess I wanted to give them something? (And, yes, Casablanca, certainly.)
"Brother"! It was in the draft before I finished reading the Winter Soldier single issue, and there it was on the page, and *oh*, how I love Brubaker and his language. :D
Oh, Gloss, oh, I can't wait until Jube wakes up, but for now I'm holding this close to my bosom. Even on Friday or so I wasn't completely sold on the love, but now my heart is true.
The way you describe Bucky is so on - Bucky's voice is soft, almost absent-minded, but he's looking at - maybe *into* - Steve. Same way he looks at sentries before he draws the knife, same way he looks at the dead fallen in the snow. Fierce and still, pre-explosive. You have a lovely rhythm going on here, and this was a joy to read.
And now I'm holding *you* close to *my* bosom - thank you so much.
Even on Friday or so I wasn't completely sold on the love, but now my heart is true. They're just - they're pure as *anything*, even with the retcon, and I want to set them jitterbugging for hours together.
Steve's an artist *and* a patriot. He knows how to appreciate Buck. :D
"Make you a deal," Bucky says, kissing him again, too lightly, moving his hand back to their shafts and jerking them together. "Paris gets liberated? You get that.
Oh Bucky, you great patriot.

OK, just yes. That is the perfect description.
All the snow, and the clinging, and then the ending...
Buck tips his head briefly against Steve's palm. "Never do anything I don't want to," he says. "Remember that

Oh Bucky, you great patriot. See, I thought I had Bucky all set in my head (or, I guess, as set as was necessary to write some clichefic), and then I read Waid's take on him as this fast-talking wheeler-dealer kid, and everything turned upside down. Only not, and, well - he's a dealmaker and a spy and an assassin. And possibly a diplomatic courtesan, I'm not sure.
All the snow, and the clinging THEY ARE BOTH WINTER SOLDIERS, FOREVER AND EVER. *tinhat*
Steve's older-brotherliness mixed in with a little sheepishness over how he's not that much older yet playing big brother to a very competent near-adult. If I did accomplish that (and I want to trust you on that, I really do), then I'm over the moon. Thank you so much - for this, duh, but also all the canon.

The snakebite made me squeak a lot -- what an *excuse.*
And the promises of Paris gave me Casablanca flashes, except at the other end of the timeline.
They are beautiful together, whether Bucky wants to believe it or not.
You make them beautiful.
"Brother" is going to become one of those *things* in my head like "partners" and "little brother." I can already hear it coming.

All those levels are here, and I rejoice over them, as much as I assure you that you should trust me on how you rendered Steve.

And I'm even more glad that you enjoyed reading this as much as I did writing it.
