2009 with THE LAST AIRBENDER and RACEBENDING.COM
What a year it's been, full of ups and downs but in the end - a wonderful pile of ups. Thank you to my friendlist not just for supporting me, but for helping me sort out my own thoughts about racism, prejudice, privilege, silencing, ignorance, derailment and allies. Thank you to jedifreac and whosdamike for being so ( Read more... )

woohoo. Don't forget Sifu Kisu, MANAA, Sequential Tart, and Angry Asian Man! And we were featured in the Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, and Daily Pennsylvanian, and Scifi Wire, io9, etc...

Yeah, I'm with you and what racebending.com has done is amazing work. I can't imagine the movie will be any good if they failed to get a huge ginormous detail so wildly incorrect. Kind of like if someone adapted Harry Potter and made all the characters washerwomen and also mice. We'd be like sure there were a number of lavatory scenes in the books, but I don't remember it being all about Harry's lumbago and hard water stains.

Honestly, if aang-aint-white and racebending never spoke up, this movie might very well be on its way to mediocre success. To the studio, casting with a preference for Caucasian WAS a minor detail; and they were under the impression that the public felt the same way.

LOLOLOLOLOL. NOW I WISH I WAS, AHAHAHAH!

Jeez, it's amazing to see how much we've done in just a year's time, ya know? I just wish I'd been able to help at my local convention, but it got canceled due to floods. *SOB* *SO MUCH PAPER WASTED* *CRIES* *ONE MILLION DOLLARS DAMAGE TO HOSTING LIBRARY* *CRIES MORE*

Anyway, here's hoping we can do lots more in the coming months! We'll need to if we hope to make Paramount see that their racist casting practices will get them nowhere after all. ^_~

OMG POOR LIBRARY!!! O.o

YES I think this year will be very exciting in terms of our development. Now that Paramount is fully aware of our existence, they can't claim ignorance or lack of knowledge. Making progress, woots!

Seriously! I was going nuts at that time. My TCG collection in possible danger (but ultimately wasn't, phew) was the icing on top of the nutter butter cake. *twitches remembering all that stress*

Exactly! They can't just sweep us under the rug as easily this time around. They have to acknowledge us even if they're still stubbornly clinging to the shit they're trying to pull on TLA. *nods* I so cannot wait to see the progress we make in the coming year. ^^-
