"According as circumstances are favorable, one should modify one's plans." - Sun Tzu

Oh, LJ. Despite knowing this was inevitable since they introduced beta testing, I can't help but be completely disappointed. Blatant disregard for the concerns and DO NOT WANTs of the userbase aside, that's the sort of 'design' that was popular when computers were ( Read more... )

They considered and incorporated our feedback, yet the design looks exactly the same as when it was first released for beta testing. What a coincidence! :D

I know right? You wonder why they bother asking us in the first place when clearly they're going to do whatever they want anyhow. I just saw your post btw. :3

Exactly! If you're not going to bother listening to us, why ask us what we think? And ahaha. My rage post. 8| I've been on LJ for six years now. Their antics do not amuse me. D:

I'm hoping beyond hope that they come to their senses and at least provide an opt-out. Is that likely do you think, from your veteran experience? 83 I can't imagine putting up with all their crap for so long. orz

In one way I think it looks more sleek, but is it me or does it remind me of the 'new' Facebook now? -wry- Ah well, one more thing that made LJ LJ (the default profile view always seemed kinda archaic to me, in a classic way XD) changed..

*nods* The old profile was really distinctive. The new one just looks like a nasty throwback to the 90s. As horrible as it is, I suppose I can get used to it but LJ needs to hire a better PR. These days, the default state of its customers seems to range from furious to discontent and it gets worse with every release. D8

Thanks for reccing Fight Club btw! I had it sitting around and your post kicked my butt into gear. :D I'm starting on Choke now; Palahniuk is like nothing I've read before.

Yeah, I started reading it and he's a very interesting author. It's very different to read it when you've watched the movie...there're so many nuances that're missed in the text->movie transition. Especially when it's a good author. :) [cough-eragon-cough -- I haven't actually watched the movie, but I didn't think much of the book. :( Until I knew it was written by a 17-year-old...which isn't a good thing, is it?]

Ouch. Yeah, there was some unrest with the basic/free thing too, wasn't there -- and some random censorship/deletion of LJs? Sigh.

I'm a bit leery about watching the film - on one hand, I'd like to see how certain scenes are adapted, especially the Tyler as one person situation, but I'm certain there are some elements that just can't be successfully translated and I don't want it to ruin my enjoyment of the book. :/ It isn't like Harry Potter where there's the novelty of 'magic'/special effects and even then I couldn't reread without seeing Daniel Radcliffe in my head.

As for Eragon, I didn't think much of the movie or the book, sadly. XD I didn't know that the author was that young though.
