GGP: Project Update
Our current letter total for all books is 63/300 letters.
We are short 237 letters. Our deadline is January 18. This means we have a little over a month to get those letters written and added to our project total. We have had over 150 members show interest in our project, and that is not counting those members from foreign forums. If each of those 150 members wrote 2 letters each, we would meet our goal quite easily.
The problem is that these letters are not being written. Some may have school work getting in the way or work, some may just be putting off their letter writing until the last minute, and some may simply not feel comfortable writing a letter.
To those of you dealing with school or work
We understand the delay. Good luck with your work and get those letter to us as fast as you can.
To those of you waiting until the last minute
Please do not wait until the last minute or the last week or the last day. Keep in mind that a few of us are continually keeping an eye on the letter total and if you can turn your letters in to us quickly we can worry less and less about reaching our project goal.
To those who do not feel comfortable writing a letter
This
workshop is for you. If you need one-to-one help with your letter, all you have to do is
send Helio a personal message to his inbox, and we'll take it from there.
Donations + Letters = Project Success!
The idea this person had is that members who are willing to donate, can donate money according to how many letters are received. For example, we can have a member agree to donate $5.00 dollars for every 20 letters, or maybe $25.00 for ever 100 letters. Someone can even pledge to donate $0.25, $0.50 or $1.00 per letter.
The point of this donation idea is that the more letters are written, the more money we will receive.
At this time we do need more funds. We are currently working on the interior design of the book and we will be using stock images. To pay for those images we will need approximately $60-100. We are also considering adding a set of gift baskets (***more information on that below) and we will need approximately $450 to fund that. Finally, we are also planning on make a donation to the HESHIMA KENYA charity organization. This came after a few of our members spotted the Smallville writers tweeting this message:
@SV_Writers Executive Producer Kelly Souders is Board Chairman of the charity Heshima Kenya, check it out and see how you can help! www.heshimakenya.org
It is clear that at this moment this charity is important to Ms. Souders so we thought we'd help her out with that. At the same time, last year after Operation: Wild Cherry had ended, several members had begun to organize a second campaign, Team Epic. This campaign centered exclusively on donating to charity so we want to complete that project the same way we are trying to complete Bryan Q. Millers project all at once here.
So as you can see, even though we do have left over funds. We still need more. Our goal right now will be to raise an additional $600 more. If we raise at least that amount and add it to our left over funds we can comfortably do all three activities, (1) design our books, (2) buy our gift baskets, and (3) donate to charity.
Raffle + Letters = Success!
A second member, Dee, came up with another creative idea about how to raise funds for our project. Her idea is very simple. She has purchased a set of gifts that she will raffle off to members who purchase a "digital" ticket. More about this from Dee herself who was kind enough to type up a draft about what this raffle is all about. She even took pictures of the items to be raffled.
...RAFFLE DETAILS BELOW...
In order to get people donating, I had an idea to offer anyone who donates more than $5 the chance to win a few things, I purchased personally. The idea is that anyone who donates will be allocated a unique number (To keep it simple it will be 1, 2, 3..etc). Then at the end, a number will be selected at random as the winner.
I want to make it clear that 100% of the money donated will go directly towards this project and the items was purchased and will be shipped with my own money to any country, which will probably cost me a lot more than $5.
To clarify, my objective is to encourage people to donate, as we have decided to give extra funds to charity, supported by the producers (www.heshimakenya.org). Think of it this way, you are donating to a good cause, whilst having a chance to win some London souvenirs.
Donations can be made to Daphne using paypal: tenshinochi@yahoo.com
As previously stated, your donations or any other info will remain confidential and will not be made public. I will allocate a unique number for every $5 donated, so if you donate $10 you will get 2 entries or digital tickets, and if you donate $15 you will get 3 three tickets and so forth... the more you donate the better your chances are to win.
As I live in the UK, the items are London souvenirs and cost me a lot more than $5 collectively. I purchased it myself from London’s West End (Oxford Circus).
The winner I pick randomly will win a picture frame with London icons and Landscape, 3 London picture Art prints, and 2 keyrings (Telephone box and Post Box shaped key ring). I will also select two other people to win a key ring each. Please PM me if you have any queries. Here are pictures of the souvenirs.
