It hurts :P I bow to the Queen of Angst, of course, and I bow to you :P You two will do my head in with all the epic writing, ffs.

I mean, I have no words to express how perfect this is, how the contrast between past and present and the link of the candles, of light and darkness, is so perfect, beyond perfect. This just fits them in every possible. And it hurts, did I mention that? :P

It's brilliant. It's just so brilliant that I want to read it forever. And maybe cry :P

Thank you :) The original idea was to do a fluffy smut fic with wax play (I even had a LOL title - 'Wax On, Wax Off') and then I thought it was time for some angst instead. And as much as I wish those two would have a happy ending, it feels like it's too late *sobs forever* and Nico has run off with Jenson anyway

Jake is so boring, he's never fully returned to his epic Nico Love D: Mind you, standing next to EJ's camel toe for most of the weekend would put me off all thoughts of sex, tbh.

So that's four times I've read this now. It's very special.
I don't know who I feel more for - Nels or Nico. The flashbacks have such a sepia tone to them, like sunshine on home movies from the 70s, sharp and raw, yet warm.

I loved the first flashback and what that said about Nels.

No.” Nelson sounds puzzled by the question. “I never want to know.”
“Ignorance is bliss.”
Nelson is quiet for a long moment. “Yeah.”
Except then Nels walks like he can see in the dark and it's not that he wants to be ignorant, it's that he wants to be oblivious and block out the darkness.

And poor Nico too with the expectation that wax play will be easy and then he burns Nels straight off and it's such a metaphor for them and F1 and so much more and expectation and delivery.

And poor Nico trying to get back to that feeling, back to the joy of Nelson's smile. There's more to be said about the ritualisation and the sadness and about how if he just picked up the phone he would feel again so much easier than all of this.

Thank you, I'm so happy you liked it *snuggles* LOL I can't write angst the way you do, especially not with these boys! As I said to Yas, originally it was going to be a fluffy smutty fic and then I was thinking of your N/N series and a LJ conversation we had recently about them and I thought 'it has to be angst!' so yeah, there it is.

Yep, Nico is usually the adventurous one I guess! I wanted younger!Nels to be more open and optimistic, the contrast to how he'll be later once he gets all that expectation shoved onto him and the trauma of Flav etc. And how can Nico want to let go of something that used to be so special and happy? *cries* I still want them to have a happy ending. They're a golden couple, really.

I like happy!playful!Nels, just want to cuddle him and shield him from the world.

It's so precious how they grow/grew with each other, and that Nico doesn't want to hurt him and slowly learning that Nels likes to be hurt. Apart from being awww-inducing, it's also completely hot.

WE NEED TO GIVE THEM A HAPPY ENDING OKAY.

This is beautiful and it hurts. It's made me feel sad enough to want to cry, and wish more than ever that there was a way to turn the clock back - to make Nels 'right' somehow.

Of course Nels can walk in the dark, he's been in the shadows created by greater egos than himself all his life. Even Nico here, by the very nature of being light, is creating different shadows for Nels to hide in.

The wax play made my skin ache and my toes curl. I've been in the very fortunate position of having two Brazilians dripping wax over me (in a very public (albeit very dark) place, surrounded by friends and for pure fun) and you've kind of made me go all glassy-eyed.

I'm sighing a lot now, and staring off into the distance. I miss these boys, and I miss happy Nels before he was broken.
