A Challenge

Jul 28, 2008 10:39

When I was sent forth to announce the opening of the second round of the Small Fandom Big Bang (now open to all small fandoms) I sort of panicked because, heck, that's a *lot* of fandoms, and there's no way I can pimp to *all* of them.  But then I realized what a tremendous opportunity it was, because there are a ton of stories I've been wanting to ( Read more... )

If I were an author of any sort of reliability I'd go all "bring it!" for the challenge(s). As it is, I will content myself by fulfilling my duties as She Who Recs:

The Cain/Glimbrose epics, in order of yanking from the master list, an incomplete tally (add your own!) -
- Fifteen Annuals, by luchia13. AU, wherein Glitch is a ninja. Crack and awesome ensue.
- ...You Don't Forget, by blindswandive, being the sequel to Evil Like That... (which is evil!Az/Glitch and terrifying). The epic darkfic.
- The Longest Battle by andrealyn. Another AU which asks what would have happened had DG not let go.
- An Ageless Light, by koslorollo and lionille, being the sprawling ~130,000 word epic road trip.
- Azkadellia's Okay!, by andrealyn and luchia13. The AU where the Witch picked another target and the queen picked some other babysitters to keep her daughter safe on the Otherside.
- The Knight's Quest, by lionille. The one with the pet mobat *sage nod*

...we see who the prolific authors are now.

I just grew a bit faint when you mentioned 30,000 (sweet mother of G) but I'd love to write something for you challenge, I'll check out the rules. As for epic C/G let's see, there's 'An Ageless Light' a co-written masterpiece, by lionelle and koslorollo, and 'Unconditionally Unconditional' by streamofwords, if you like AU's luchi's written many fine ones. I wrote one that was over 17000 words that people were kind about called 'Those who favor fire' you might try. I've left out so many great writers and stories, don't hurt me everyone, this was just what I thought of off the top of my head. Good luck with the challenge, even if I don't enter it will be great reading the entries.

She Who Recs beat me to the epics!

I've got a couple that are ... uh, not "epic" length as in, 30,000 words, but are both around 14-15,000 words. If you're interested, they can be found on linked from my master list here:

http://surranndie.livejournal.com/47072.html

The longest are "Tangible" and "When Wonderland Shatters."

Hey, if they're complete and over 10,000 words, I'm a happy camper:) Thanks!

We're really excited -- this is the first round where we've opened up the challenge to all fandoms and we've got some great authors signed up (who knew Ironside had a fandom?!)

I don't know your definition of 'epic', but I'm willing to bury my nose for once and offer what I have. The Longest Battle is my longest (pun!), but I also have:

Once Upon A Time hit 20,000 words and deals with rebrained Ambrose who tousles with magic in an experiment gone wrong.

Impermanence, which is 35-40 pages (so, approx. 20,000 words). Glitch gets his brain back in a non-traditional way, but it doesn't last.

The Path Not Taken (that's the link to part three, but it has the links for it all). HEAVILY AU. Cain was born a girl. The story goes from there. It was 30+ pages, as well.

The Grass Is Greener on the Otherside (link to part two, part one is there). Came out to about 18,000 words, I believe. Cain, Jeb, and DG go back to the Otherside and Ambrose is getting married.

I'm also working on something right now that will probably peak at around 30-40 pages, but I'm debating how I want to release it.
