- A month or two ago Vonda vowed to bring me on a Wardrobe Upgrade Tour. We were finally able to go on Saturday, and it turned out a lot better than I thought it would--I haven't bought more than a few pieces of clothing in many years, and I was pleasantly surprised to actually find some items that I think will look good and that actually fit. Overall, I wound up with four shirts, three pairs of pants and a pair of shoes (Vonda had taken one look at the shoes I've been wearing in a few iterations for the past four years and said that I'd have to get something different), most of which act against the overwhelming presence of blue clothes in my repertoire.
- For those of you who didn't get enough Star Trek colognes, get ready for more.
- Ta-Nehisi Coates' posts on the Civil War are must-read material. The latest: U.S. Grant as super-hero. (Speaking of the Civil War, some intrepid soul put together Shelby Foote's interviews from Ken Burns' The Civil War.)
- I received my copy of Film Score Monthly's new Star Trek III set on Friday; based on a couple cursory listens so far, I love a lot of the new material already. The minor themes get to shine much more than before, and the whole score takes on more of its own shape.
