Many adventures

It's been a while since I last posted and I probably did some things in that time.

The major thing I've been doing is getting paid not to work. That is very awesome and gives me plenty of pony time, but as my notice ends with November I'm getting more of my job-seeker's head on now.

You always have the best photos under your cuts! Just as I was about to comment on how the mist added something to these shots, I scrolled down to the gorgeous backlit one!

XD Thank you.

I think Sari and I actually have a somewhat similar way of taking pictures, though it may just be that I have a definite way of cropping them :)

That one cob looks like a weird cross of Appy and Paint! Then again, over here, piebald is likely to be either Shetland or Paint these days. Anyway, it's a bit coarse to be of stock horse lineage, that plus the solid muzzle and non-striped hooves kinda rule out Appy lineage. Anyway, that's what I'd say here. Maybe Knabstrupper-cross? Or do they cross those horses (not sure what the price point is over there for grade crosses)?

It takes time for sensitive horses to gain confidence on the trail, sounds like you're progressing well with Cash. One thing I did with Mocha to slow her down on the walk home was to turn her away, do whoa-back, stuff like that, make it harder on her when she wanted to speed up. But it takes a delicate feel when you pull that because it's also way easy to amp them up--gotta feel your pressure delicately.

Could be Knabstrupper cross or something - I think she is european in origin - but I never heard of them having that blue-roany blanket-spot type pattern that she has. That seems much more appyesque. She's an interesting genetic jam at anyrate and - more importantly - an amazingly sweet mare.

Thats pretty much the approach I'm taking with Cash, just trying to show him that life is less work if he sticks with my ideas and more work if he is pushy with his own. I will also go straight past the yard if I feel him trying to dive into it.

Lots of ponies = always good.

Would like to hear more about the more troubled horse you're working with--am curious.

So nice of Sari to take pics! You on a horse rather than all pony ears! brilliant!

She's just young and a little bit herdbound, can't be lead out of the field without throwing herself around, bucking, rearing and generally being somewhat hectic. I got her leading up a lot more nicely after a little work, but it will take a while for her to get more secure and trusting in people.

Ben always looks very good on a horse, I find, so I am more than happy to take riding photos at any given opportunity. :)

Lovely pics as always! I love the markings on that Appy X, though those fine Appy manes don't give you very much to cling to in an emergency...

Glad to hear Zorro is surviving box rest & hope he soon comes right.

The nice thing is that she's not an emergency kind of a horse really. She's very generous and gentle and although she has done a few things to worry her owner, she's done amazingly well since we've been working together.
