70's influencealbichorizonMay 4 2011, 13:48:51 UTC
Since this an episode with all its songs from an album released in the 1977 I think the characters were dressed with a bit of 70's fashion and styling in mind. I picked up on the trend when watching the girls, but I'm not very knowledgeable about 70's era men's fashion. I think the denim shirt and the christmas plaid shirt unbuttoned to the sternum are Kurt style versions of 70's fashion. I would love for someone more knowledgeable to comment.
I definitely noticed the 70s influence on the girls - I'd love for someone more knowledgeable to comment about this as well, my mens fashion knowledge is strictly 20s-60s!
I love the Christmas-plaid top, but I'm thinking it's so unbuttoned because Chris has gotten a lot bigger since they filmed Duets. You can see the shirt gapping where it's buttoned across his stomach, and it's not like there's a lot of stomach there.
But honestly I am preferring some of the theories above! :D
New Theory: The reason they left him at Dalton so long was that Chris is still shooting up like a weed and it was easier/cheaper to just keep making adjustments to the baggy uniform than it was to constantly be replacing the expensive items he wears regularly. :P
So many theories! I can't decide if it's a deliberate 70s influence, or Chris is just bursting out of it because it looks like his shirt is buttoned (not all the way up but not as low as the caps above) in some of the other shots.

I love it. I didn't even notice the collar of the Westwood shirt.
