I had turned my attention back to my magazine when Rachel began to talk, but I took my sunglasses off and looked sharply over at her once she explained what she had been dealing with recently. I tried to think of a way to ask things politely and not be accidentally offensive.
"That's cool," I began, because maybe this was something that she was wanting to have happen. "Um, like... were you adopted or. What exactly was the situation with that?" There, that wasn't offensive, right? It wasn't like I asked if one of her dads had been straight enough to knock a bitch up before he decided he liked dudes.
A turkey baster? Oh god. Oh no. Bad images. Really really bad images. I winced a little, imagining the awkward. And what if one of Rachel's dads had used the turkey baster himself? Oh god. Ew. No! I shuddered slightly, then tried to focus. "You have a museum?" Okay, that probably wasn't the point. "What did the tape say?"
