Every day writing isn't happening, but I'll pretend it is.

Sunday:

H had a dentist appointment in the morning, so I took the opportunity of having her home alone to scrub her thoroughly. For some reason she is adverse to cleanliness. It might have something to do with being 8/9 years old.

I noticed her cringing when the dentist only picked up her ( Read more... )

Yeah, I realize no "feel-good" kind of therapy is going to change the chemical actions in her brain that make her bi-polar. But even if she wasn't bi-polar it would be a miracle if she didn't feel anger over her messed up childhood at the hands of her much older step-brother, and her (probably depressed) mother who didn't protect her. She raised her younger siblings, even financed their educations, but when she started having manic outburts they all turned their backs on her. Lots of emotional work there for anyone. She is unlucky enough to be bipolar as well. :(

You are the second person who is bipolar who has mentioned training themselves. That is interesting to me because I see so many people who are bipolar who are either knocked out by the medicine or stop taking it, go through mania and then are so sorry they sink into horrible depression. Are there any sites at which I could read up on the approach you are taking?

Thanks. Good analogy. Sounds awful to me, because I'm such a weak-willed wimp. I don't want to have to concentrate on most things. Luckily most people who are bi-polar seem to have strong wills, though. I will see if she seems open to such an idea. She is from a former generation and a different culture, and hasn't been raised with all the self-awareness ideas of the modern day west (if I remember correctly, she was born in Libya), so it is more of a jump for her. Thanks again.
