The cousins talked A into celebrating his birthday tonight because U, an adult cousin, is supposedly going to show up with some exciting fireworks. That means that us girls have to sit at home with with this cake taunting us all day long. If it doesn't last till the party, I feel no guilt. Well, maybe a little. But I can handle guilt if I have

Almost all people suck. That makes for a lot of pain. But you gotta give each one a wide open no pressure unmonitored chance to not suck. Otherwise, how will you know?

Or you could just retire to a cave. But, I don't reccomend it. It's dark in there.

I'm not sure if this makes sense or not, but here goes:
I don't think everyone is out to use other people. However, that being said, some individuals can be notoriously self centered. I think just talking to your children about whats going on helps, be as open and honest as you can. Hopefully they will see through people with ulterior motives and make smart choices.
Exposure to people with different backgrounds and cultures helps too.
