Finn Hudson was nervous. Not just nervous. He was gut wrenching butterflies in his stomach, nervous. Today, Finn was meeting the new partner of Rutgers and Associates. He had worked for the law firm ever since graduating from The University of Ohio’s Law Program and he had slowly moved up the ranks. He was thirty now and his manager thought he had what it took to be an Associate, who would work directly for and with their new partner. That was the part Finn was the most nervous about. He had heard gossip, water cooler trash talk, about the company's new partner. She had worked cases for IBM, Apple, and in her spare time volunteered for Reading Across America. She sounded like a perfect robot. Finn had never cared for robots. Now his hands were sweating. He thought of something his old Glee coach had told him, "When you're nervous just picture your audience in their underwear." Finn had never taken the advice seriously but he supposed he could try it. It had to be better than what he was feeling now.
Finn was more than prepared for his new job. He had been jerked awake by the beep of his alarm clock at precisely 6:12. He was wearing his lucky tie, the one that past girlfriends had deemed “tacky”. The one thing he was not prepared for was a trip to the Arctic. The meeting room was cold. Too cold, in Finn's opinion. He never liked people that had to have their offices below freezing. He thought it was weird. He didn't want to work for someone that was this weird. Finn sighed and looked at his watch. His boss was five minutes late and his thought were drifting. Finn sighed again and earned a stern look from William Bradley, Associate. Finally, he heard a vehicle pull up in the building below.
"Oh, she's on her motorcycle today." William laughed as he looked across the table at Finn, who was trying to figure out why he was supposed to find that funny. He heard the elevator ding and then she stepped into the room. All power suit and mile high heels. Finn’s breath stopped, and it wasn't because he was picturing his new boss in her underwear. He was staring into the high class, put together, now sex bomb that was Santana Lopez, graduate of William McKinley High. Finn tugged at his tie, trying to get more air to return to his lungs. He considered briefly telling William that he was having a panic attack, when she spoke to him.
"Finn." It was a statement, no surprise, no confusion. Finn coughed loudly and croaked out a "Yes".
"Nice to see you again. You're moving up in the company," She smiled, "Now, William, where we're we on the Morrison project?" And just like that, her attention had waned. She seemed to have forgotten completely about him. Finn scratched his head and looked around the conference room. No one else seemed to have any idea that he had went to high school with her. Finn shrugged to himself and pulled out the notepad he had brought specifically for the meeting.

“You know they won’t come out until the sun goes down…,” Finn smirked and glanced at Santana. They had been working together for months now and she knew where the conversation was headed.
“Our newest clients are not vampires!” She hissed playfully at him. They had been waiting for twenty minutes now for Marie and George Oliver to show. The couple was threatening a lawsuit towards George’s previous place of employment. They only agreed to meet with Santana during the late hours of night and in the dingiest of places. Because of this, Finn always accompanied her. Their server came by for the third time that night.
“These people are going to start thinking we’re just here because we’re homeless,” Finn muttered when the server was sent away. Santana looked across the table at Finn’s outfit, “I don’t think so,” She concluded.
“They’ll definitely think you’re homeless,” Finn took in her tailored suit, which hit directly at her hip, and her black pumps which showcased her long legs. Every time they went out more than one glance was thrown her way. Finn didn’t know if she never noticed or if she just ignored them.
“I don’t think they’re showing.” She concluded and when the server came back, they ordered two beers and wings.
It was late when they left the bar. One beer had turned into four beers. Finn could’ve sworn he saw the sun but Santana assured him it was just the moon. After trying for forty-five minutes to get a cab, they decided to walk back to the office and sleep in their offices. The elevator was broken so they stumbled along the stairs, absentmindedly falling into each other. When they reached Santana’s office, it was time for daybreak.
“Would you look at that?” Santana whispered into the air and she and Finn watched the sun streak across the Columbus skyline.
“The most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen,” He concluded. If Santana had been looking she would’ve seen him staring at her.

“Vegas?” Finn looked at her, a shocked expression on his face.
“We present the Oliver case Tuesday but the company wants us to go Sunday night since the flight is cheaper,” Santana confirmed.
“Ah. This is…wow. Vegas,” Finn grinned at her.
“It’ll be fun! Company expenses…,” Her heard her trill.
+
The flight was three hours long. About an hour in, Santana fell asleep on his shoulder and didn’t wake up until the plane had landed.
“Sorry…,” Santana muttered, running a hair through her hair.
If he’d had any guts, he would’ve told her he didn’t mind at all.

Their hotel was expensive. Finn could tell just by the smell of it. Santana checked them in and came back with his room key.
“Across the hall from me,” She smiled. He wished they were still in high school. That would’ve been all the invitation he needed.

He came into her hotel room one night to see if he could borrow her notes for the case.
“Sure thing,” She nodded and stepped away from the door. She was wearing a slip that barely covered her thighs. Finn hoped his face wasn’t turning red. She rifled around some papers on her desk and came back with a stack a mile high.
“Wanna help me finish some of this?” She nodded toward the piles of takeout surrounding the bed.
“Sure thing,” He smiled and went into the room. Some ABC Family show was on the television.
“What are you watching?” He said, motioning with his chopstick to the television as another couple proceeded to have sex.
“Emmm..Secret Life of the American Teenager…,” She giggled.
“You do realize we’re in our thirties, don’t you San?” He glanced over at the opposite bed, where she sat.
“Well, don’t you ever miss it? High school?” She clarified.
“Not at all. Too much drama. Not enough beer. I hated high school,” Finn concluded.
“Sometimes I think I was at my best in high school,” She fiddled with an earring and turned towards Finn, “Sometimes I think, ‘Jeez to go back…’” She laughed, “It’s just high school was different, you know?” She wrinkled her nose.
“I know,” He looked at her, “We never would be here, in a fancy hotel eating takeout together, if we we’re still in high school,” He stared at her.
“Maybe high school was overrated,” She smiled and his whole body filled with warmth.

He was waiting for the results from their case. They had gone to court that day and he felt they had a strong lead. Their opponent looked like a rat anyways. He strummed his fingers on the stained table where he sat in the hotel bar. He saw her burst through the door and he stood up the meet her.
“We won! We won! We won!” She screamed. This was the happiest he had ever seen her. She came toward him and before he knew what he was doing he had lifted her up into the air and spun her around. The other patrons of the grimy bar took no notice of this or when he pressed his lips against hers and held her close.
“Sorry…I just…got caught up in the moment,” He smiled at her sheepishly. He wanted to tell her that he had fantasized about that one kiss for months.

Prompts (minimum of 3, no maximum!):
1. Quinn Fabray - “Among other things, you'll find that you're not the first person who was ever confused and frightened and even sickened by human behavior. You're by no means alone on that score, you'll be excited and stimulated to know. Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept records of their troubles. You'll learn from them - if you want to. Just as someday, if you have something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It's a beautiful reciprocal arrangement. And it isn't education. It's history. It's poetry.” Catcher in the Rye, J.D. Salinger.
2. Sue Sylvester - Pre-series. A week in the life of Sue Sylvester.
3. Finn/Santana - Future!fic. Finn Hudson never dreamed that he'd one day be working for Santana Lopez.
4. Puck/Brittany - Out of all the Glee kids, they've known each other the longest, but know the least about each other. A study of P/B from being kids on the playground to where they are now, UST abounds.
5. Will/Terri - “If only we'd stop trying to be happy we could have a pretty good time.” Edith Wharton
