Sam was on his way back from hanging out with Mike outside the Ravenclaw dorms. He knew he had gone over time beyond curfew, but he was bummed about having to deal with that whole house divide again, so they pushed it just a little saying goodnight. He bounded up the stairs and veered around the corner, trying to be as quick as he was to get back to the Hufflepuff Common Room without getting in the shit when he nearly banged right into Blaine, one of the Gryffindor Prefects.

Oh shit. "Blaine," he said, really hoping he wasn't about to lose Hufflepuff House points before they even got any that year. He pointed over his shoulder with his thumb. "I as just, uh... Are you okay?"

It wasn't even crossing Blaine's mind to punish Sam for being out after curfew when he was clearly breaking all the same rules. Sam might have a perfectly innocent reason for being out, while Blaine knew he definitely did not have any claim on any sort of innocence these days. Part of him really hated himself for just giving into every one of Kurt's demands, but the other part of him knew he had feelings for the Head Boy like he had never had before and it was confusing the hell out of him. The reason why he kept giving in was purely and simply because he would take whatever he could get of time with Kurt.

"Sam," he said, slightly breathless from the fright of being caught. "Yeah... uh... I just... hospital wing!" Stroke of genius. That was an innocent place to be heading, right? "Just... going to the Hospital Wing."
