Grell landed on his feet, then stumbled for a moment before regaining his balance. He brushed off his coat with a single sweep of his hand, afraid he might've gotten dirt on it. Really, one of these days, he was going to ( ... )

The first things Yayoi registered were that the chains were gone and she was standing up. Both good things, she thought. Shortly after that, she noticed that she was no longer in the prison, but some sort of city ( ... )

Grell shrieked right back when that earsplitting scream hit his ears. What was going on?! Was it a zombie? A person? He couldn't tell! And he didn't give himself time to find out.

Panic-stricken, he threw his hand in a slap at whoever had intruded upon his place of hiding. He might not have his Death Scythe, but as long as he had his hands, he wouldn't get bitten! He couldn't... not now...

Yayoi screamed again as the creature's hand connected with her face. She rolled right out of the bush and into a carousel on the playground. Everything was just endless spinning . . .

Of course, this entire little ordeal hadn't calmed Grell down much so he was dizzy and gasping for breath all over again when he peered over the bush. He hoped that he had at least done some damage.

But the only thing he saw was a girl, spinning on a carousel. Was now really the best time to be having fun? He didn't think so. Maybe she was one of the zombies? Just to be safe, Grell didn't emerge from behind the bush, he just continued to peek over it, watching the girl.

Yayoi crouched on the carousel. Zombies moved slow, right? So if she kept spinning really fast, nothing bad would happen, right?

Right?

Well, this girl wasn't stumbling around so Grell presumed it was ok to say that she wasn't a zombie. Thank goodness. But she had some nerve surprising him like that!

"Hey!" he called out, forgetting that he was trying to remain inconspicuous. "Don't sneak up on me like that!"

Yayoi dragged her foot on the ground to stop spinning.

"You're a person? When you hit me I thought you were a zombie!"

"Of course I'm a person!" Grell snapped. "Do I look like a zombie to you?!"

"Well, you're all growly and your teeth are funny," Yayoi observed. "Also, you made a big screech and hit me in the face. You could have been a zombie."

"F-funny?!" Grell spat back, insulted. "You think my teeth are funny?! Well let's see how funny they are when they bite your fingers off! C'mere!" He bolted from behind the bush and lunged at the girl, prepared to start a full scale cat fight. Any stupid girl that called his teeth funny was going down!

Yayoi cringed behind the carousel bars.

"No, don't!"

"Why shouldn't I?" Grell hissed as he lurched to a stop, bending down and sticking his angry face merely inches from the girl's. "Maybe I need to take my anger out on someone!"

Grell was shouting right in her face. Yayoi's eyes filled with tears.

"You were nicer when you were a sailor," she sniffled.

The comment was so unexpected that Grell was actually speechless for a moment. "A sailor?" he repeated rather dubiously. "Me?" He scoffed, both amused and repulsed at the same time. "Never! Sailors are far too sweaty and unclean." He paused thoughtfully and straightened up. "Unless you meant the other kind of sailor. That would be a different story."

Yayoi looked at the ground. "It was just a story."
