The prison air is split by the piercing, wailing sound of an emergency siren. The Warden's voice calls out above it:

She leapt from her bed gasping and covering her nose and mouth. She looked around wildly for the source of the fire, settling on the blankets.
This is just a drill the robot voice reverberated around her. She was really starting to hate that stupid robot. Fire drills generally did not involve actual fire in her Tokyo. Someday she was going to get out of here and file the world's longest complaint.
No time to think about that now, though. The smoke was blinding, and she couldn't see her new friend. "Nana!" she called worriedly into the smoke.
