Sorry guys, not a fic. Instead--BAND MATTERS! Today was State Solo and Ensemble. Basically, for all non-bandies, this means that we prepare a solo piece on our instruments or an ensemble (a group of people playing) to perform and be judged on. To go to State, you have to make  Superior (1) at District. I did the hardest level solo ( a Level 7) this ( Read more... )

*raises hand*

Yeah, also a former clarinet player here. I made it to State solo and ensemble as a freshman in high school (our ensemble got a Superior rating and beat the upperclassman prodigies who then got pissed at us, but we didn't care because we rocked).

I miss band competitions. Such a rollercoaster ride for my heart. XD

Is it sad that I'm chuckling at the mice being vacuumed and bounced around? (><)

Wowie, what is with the clarinet talent here? XD Haha, I've never gotten THAT good at clarinet, I think it's because I practiced piano more. I've never been in a clarinet ensemble before either...rather...X_X I don't think our school offered it.

You sadist....I kinda laughed too.

This is really cool! You play piano, too! So do I! Actually, that reminds me that I should practice...

It's kind of funny about the mice and then I felt terrible for giggling at it...

AH, I REALLY WISH I COULD PLAY AN ORCHESTRA INSTRUMENT ... LIKE VIOLIN OR SOMETHING D'x
ONE WHERE YOU GET TO PLAY IN A BAND Dx
I play piano and like ... there is no way I am doing a keyboard part in a band because that sucks LOL D'8

AHHHHH I have a weak spot for cute, awkward guys aswell D'x
AND OBOE IS A SEXY INSTRUMENT.
Have you heard of Nodame Cantabile? It's an anime but recently had a j-drama version. It's about this girl who plays the piano and a guy who has aspirations to become a conductor AND ITS PRETTY CUTE BUT MOST OF ALL very inspirational. I think as a musician, you'll appreciate it a lot! Anyway if you have time I really recommend downloading it and having a watch x'D It really touched me. 8')
There's also an oboe-playing guy in there who's pretty cute too, I reckon ... HAHA x'D

I PLAY PIANO TOO! *high fives* I have a competition in two weeks that I'm freaking out over because I don't feel very prepared, haha...

IT'S SUCH A SHAME MOST OBOE PLAYERS ARE GAY! That's why I was so disappointed--the only straight one I ever met fits my type and I can't have him.
I'll definitely check that out! It'll probably have to be next month, when I've blown through exams and we stop doing important things. But it sounds so cool!

You and Devin left and Malcom decided to stop caring and Ashley and Robin decided to be bitches and I just give up on our whole goddamn section.

Her name is Katie; she graduates this year. God knows what we'll do next year; I certainly won't play bass. I've waited three years to take first chair (you know Sarena got placed second chair this year instead of me? I don't know why; but I'll be first next year, because nobody besides Malcom has passed me yet, and I don't say that to brag)

No. You were pretty good, for a bass player ;)

Sorry I haven't read/commented on your stuff for awhile. I'm trying not to die on the mountain of work...

O_____o Well, that sounds like quite a tiring day (Excuse me for if I'm understating it).
Our orchestra just went to our county festival recently and we ended up getting all 2's because--as according to our conductor, Mrs. Herman--we caught the "timidity disease" where we didn't manage to play at our best. Our school's highest level orchestra, Chambers Orchestra, got all 1's and wowed the judges (it was expected though).
I plan on quitting orchestra next year since I'm not really interested in playing the viola but orchestra--unlike band for you--is actually quite fun. At least, the people in it are. Our conductor, Mrs. Herman is a lot of fun and loud and connects easily with the students so it's really easy to get along with her.
At the very least, I hope you can find solace in your friends, anime and whatnot. Take care of yourself and don't stress yourself too much over band (if you do, you'll get early wrinkles!).

Our band as a whole makes superiors, but the clarinets can't get their act together.
Don't quit orchestra! I love viola; I wish I played a string instrument. I play in a youth orchestra on the weekends, though, and I have quite a lot of fun there. The principle clarinetist and I (I'm second chair) have a running bet with the bassoon player; we'll pay him $10 each if he can show up to every rehearsal until the end of the year (starting from January) because he never bothers to show up hardly at all. And if he misses one rehearsal, or only comes to half a rehearsal, he owes both of us $10 each. The timpani player is the bet moderator.
I'm curious now; did you friend me, and I completely missed it because I'm an oblivious idiot? That does happen sometimes...I live in my own little world which is all well and good until I have to deal with reality XD. If I missed it, I'm so incredibly sorry and I will go fix that ASAP!

Haha, I'm afraid it's a bit too late for me now not to quit orchestra. I've already set my scheldule next year that does not include orchestra. On the bright side, though, the orchestra, band and chorus are taking a trip to disneyworld next week where we'll be doing some workshops there and having fun overall. It'll be something of a good-bye memory, I suppose, to my years in orchestra. It was fun while it lasted and I do enjoy the feel of being in an orchestra, I'm afraid I have no talent or motivation whatsoever to play my viola. xP
As for the friend-ing you thing, it's no big deal. I posted in one of my comments to your 4827 drabbles that I had friended you but I'm not surprised you didn't see until now. (Being in your own little world is a wonderful thing, I do it all the time when I'm procrastinating on homework. xD)
