A huge series of Squalo drabbles

Apr 03, 2008 20:57

This is actually me experimenting with an idea I wanted to implement with D18. I was listening to Rufus Wainwright's title CD and I was coming up with all sorts of ideas for that pairing with that CD. So I had an idea of taking each song and writing a corresponding story. But I wanted to try it out before I actually went ahead and took on such a ( Read more... )

I think these are great! I like the concept of writing drabbles inspired from a CD.

My favorites were 5, 6, 9, and 11.

No. 5 - The idea that Bel and Squalo are the last ones is kind of bittersweet. And I like bittersweet stuff.

No. 6 - Spoiled Bel and irate Squalo is the best. I agree with you - this definitely has potential to be something longer and explored in-depth.

No. 9 - I like how it represents sort of a small turning point in his life. Though I always imaged Squalo cutting off his hand in the middle of his battle instead of afterwards. I tackled his self-mutilation in one of my fics - had Dino bandage up his arm. XD But yeah...I would love to get more background on this.

No. 11 - Perfect ending. That's all I have to say.

That's right, you did! I remember reading that story. But I can't see him cutting it off in the battle...I think he's too clever to disadvantage himself like that.

Bel and Squalo when they were younger probably made Xanxus want to kill them both XD

O-OMG @_@ WTF, WHY DO YOU DRABBLE SO WELL?

Anyways, these were all really comprehensive, and in character and GOOD. I like how you wrote the grittiness of his life in the mafia, and in all stages of his lifetime. And just... kyaaa, you wrote him so well. I really like these. Squalo and some other characters have such an interesting and unexplored back ground. XD And I like the CD idea.

I MAY DRABBLE WELL BUT I CAN'T WRITE ANYTHING LONG, GODDAMN IT! This is the longest work I've ever done for fanfiction and it's in PIECES! GRRRRRR...

The first time I wrote Squalo I didn't get him right. HE'S SO FREAKING DIFFICULT! So I'm glad you think he's IC. I wish we saw more of him! I wish we knew more about him! I probably couldn't have written this if I had decided to stay within one period of his life...

I love you for commenting, as usual. I think you pretty much look at every piece of trash I throw out here...XD <3

YAH, him and Dino. XDD

WTF? TRASH??? D:...........;_: Can't think of anything CLEVER to say. WTH, YOU'RE TRASH. (NYO, I wuv you...)

Haha, Squalo calls people 'trash' alot. XD

No joke. I always think my Squalo sounds too sentimental and that Dino sounds like an idiot when I write him. Oh well...

*gasps* THE INDIGNITY! YOU CRITIC! (I luv u 2...*hugs*)

Yes he does...and brat, too. And he swears a lot. Writing Squalo lets me have fun with the capslock XD

Oh my god, not necessarily my favorite pairings and characters, but a DAMN good CD, so I naturally read. <3

I love "Leaving So Soon," "Try Again," and "Put It Behind You." Inspiring way to get prompted, too! Seriously, every song on this CD was gold. You did well with them. <3 Keep writing!

YES! I love Keane! Have you heard their single "The Night Sky"? Everytime I hear that, I think "I need to write a story with this..." But really, it's just so beautiful that I can't do any better than they did.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you think I did a good job, especially with such awesome music XD

I haven't heard it... but I'm gonna go listen to it now. *3* Please be inspired! I love reading and viewing whatever this community comes up with. <3 XD AND YES KEANE RAWKS HARD. Well, soft, but, you get what I mean 8D;

I could probably make it work, if I tried really hard. So maybe I will if I can decide what characters to use. I TOTALLY AGREE! They have some really amazing singles that I impulsively bought off iTunes, like "Snowed Under" and "On A Day Like Today", if you haven't heard those already...

your version of squalo's quite different from most other interpretations...more human perhaps? i'm particularly intrigued by the idea that he'd severed his hand as punishment. but what i really want to say is...you're loved for writing to Under the Iron Sea! gosh i like that album a lot:DDD kudos to your efforts to fit the drabbles to each song. i think 1, 5, 6 and 7 are very fitting (btw, which is your favourite track?).

“Never mind that!” Squalo shouts. “What the HELL do YOU think you’re doing?”

Yamamoto smiles, nonplussed. “I’m training, of course.”

“WRONG!” Squalo advanced on him, grey eyes glinting madly in the light. “You’re wasting your time!” --->WIN. i really LOLed at this part XD

When you say different, different in a good way I hope. I like thinking of Squalo in a more human perspective, because really his life is just a mess and that he's probably a very disturbed person. And because he's very clever, too, I think he would have a good understanding of other people...but really, I just like writing him so I can abuse the capslock XD It's interesting that you think 6 fit because that was the one that I thought I really missed the mark on! (My favorite track is either 3 or 11, depending on my mood)

I tried to add some humor with Yamamoto and Bel. I never really realized how angsty this CD was until I sat down to do this

don't worry, in a good way :) once in a while, the fandom gets too saturated with similar perspectives, so it's nice to see something different. TRUE...he's one of the best excuses for LAWL-worthy dialogue and capslocking XD 6 did fit! that track's on a lighter side compared to others...writing angsty for that would've been off the mood. (my favourite would've to be track 5)

agreed...this CD is great from start to end, but overall it's not the kind you put on when you wanna get happy XD probably a good thing you chose to write Squalo-centric drabbles to it.

LOL I totally agree (I like 5 too...)

Yeah, I was surprised that it turned out so well. I only had an idea for Atlantic when I went into this, so I wasn't sure how this was going to go. It probably would have been a disaster with another CD. Or this CD and another character

Wonderful drabbles! I really adore your characterization for Squalo.

Favorite was number six. xD The idea of child!Bel annoying Squalo is adorable.

LOL I should have known 6 would be your favorite. I probably never would have written any of this if it hadn't been for your random request

Haha, yep, I'm so predictable. xD

Glad to know I'm slowly spreading the love for that pairing.
