[That...sounds suspiciously like the Asuka she knew on the Elegante. So Jael really can't resist replying to the poor boy.]

Calm down, Hito. Are you alright?

I...know an Asuka that sounds similar to the one you're describing, but as far as I know, he isn't here.

[He's trying his best to be calm, and he's at least not freaking out now. It's from shock, though, and he can't claim any credit for his current frame of mind.]

[Now that Aara has finally gotten the audio to work, she doesn't know how to get it back off]

I'm sorry. [Her voice sounds hesitantly forlorn as she reaches out to him.]

[Hito has done nothing but inspect his record since he started writing to Jael, so he's at least a little confident about using the audio function. His voice is still a little uncertain, however, but it's not shaking as badly as his first message.]

Thank you... this means a lot to me. Is there... anyone I should watch out for, for you?

[With that question alone, Aara feels fresh tears and anguish wash over her. Silence ensues for a moment as she attempts to gather her strength so her voice won't crack.]

A man. A tall, dark, tanned man. Lord Kanan. If you find him, or anyone who knows of him, please--please tell them Aara is here. [Does she dare to hope? After everything Ironhide mentioned, it might be best not to. If she ever did see someone from her past--what would she say?]

[He's not sure if he just wasn't expecting a reply, or... what. But it shakes him for a minute to realize that, yes, anyone who is here with him is likely missing people.

It makes it seem that much more hopeless that he'll ever find who he is looking for.

Shaking it off, he steels himself and nods, even though she can't see him with no video.]

[When Asuka manages to trace back enough in the record to find Hito's entry, he just stares at it for a moment. Maiden. Why hadn't he seen this from the very start?

Oh, well. There's no sense in doting on that, right? So when Asuka speaks, it's bright and cheerful, just as though nothing at all has happened.]

Oi, kid, you keep talking like that and people are going to think you actually do care what happens to me!

[With nothing else to do and no desire to yet venture far from where he woke up, Hito has been sitting against his cell wall still, staring at the ceiling with his record open beside him.

As the response starts and he hears Asuka, Hito jumps, then scrambled to grab up the journal and reply.]

Asuka! You're here, too?

[He doesn't really believe it and his tone reflects it a little. His pessimism and the odds of the older boy ending up on the same world again seem to dictate it's too farfetched to be true.]

Seems like it.

[For a moment there, his voice is solemn. And then back to being silly!]

C'mon, you didn't think I was going to let you have all the fun, did you? New place to explore, new people to meet, hopefully far away from our madman gunman... I'd say this place is a pretty welcome change, myself.

Where are you? You haven't been hiding away sulking since you showed up here, have you?

[Sulking, honestly, but he's not going to say that to Asuka, so he settles for a sullen silence.]

[He's just stepped out the door and is surprised to hear another message come in on his record, tapping it to listen, he shakes his head before replying.]

Don't worry about Asuka. He contacted me... finally.

[Switching from feigned irritation to a quieter tone, he continues]

Pyry... she's got short purple hair, really blue eyes. She's really bright and happy, too. Almost constantly. She tiny, too. Maybe like... 5'1"? I... I don't really know how best to describe her. Have you... maybe seen her?
