Does anyone have a good lemon cake recipe?
One that has more fresh/tart lemon flavor than the boxed mixes?

Cook's Illustrated had such a recipe in the January 2006 issue, which would likely be the best such recipe out there. It's at home, though.

Their website also points to an older recipe for lemon pound cake from 2002. (The website appears to have some form of free trial. You might want to just go with that.)

Yeah, the Jan '06 pound cake recipe in CI does look good. I've been eyeing that for a while. The New Moosewood (I believe) also has a lemon pound cake recipe that morganlf made at Thanksgiving that turned out very well. I think the secret was lots of zest in the pound cake, and tart lemon glaze on top! :)

yup. The lemon poundcake was very zingy, especially when we put a lemon glaze on top of it.

yum!!

Do you think it might work for cupcakes? I imagine it's too heavy if it's a poundcake, but I haven't tried that recipe yet.

I just tried a pretty good lemon raspberry muffin recipe. I improvised a bit, so the recipe isn't really online. It's not quite cupcakes, but I can give it to you if you want.
