These are both illustrations for short-short stories I've written. Both stories are currently conglomerated in a collected post with some other ones in my PaperDemon account.

I just have to say that I don't know why his rear leg looks so weird on that second one. o_O I want to cover it all up with reeds now. The rest of him looks good.

I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out. I think that for some reason it looks as if it's a lot longer than his other leg, though I don't know why.

But they all look cool -- action shots!

I think that's exactly the problem -- not enough foreshortening.

Thanks, I'm trying to get more creative with poses and backgrounds so that I can do some actual illustration instead of just doodles.

I really love that unicorn one.

And *squee* plotbunny! I didn't realise they were so small. Maybe that's why I have trouble finding them.

  1. The unicorn: I think the key to my success, there, is the "erasing" of all the background detail -- all the different bright colors that were in the original photo. It was tricky cutting out just the parts I wanted, until I used the polygon tool (filled in solid color); after I dragged a short initial line segment, I could just click the mouse along the contour of the beastie. As soon as I got back to my starting point, that whole section of the background was filled in. And then, I had to create a new text box for each line of text, since the margins were all different

  2. The Plotbunny: I got the picture from this post from the Disapproving Rabbits Blog (daily celebrations of rabbits' constant expressions of seeming disdain). What impresses me most is how different the "tone" of the two pictures are, based solely on the difference between the light and dark...
