Группа образовалась в 2002-м году в Лондоне в составе Келе Окереке, Рассела Лиссака, Гордона Моукса и Мэтта Тонга.
По итогам 2004-го года BBC поставила Bloc Party на второе место в рейтинге «Sound 2004», прогнозирующем популярность
новых и малоизвестных широкой аудитории групп. Поклонниками коллектива назвали себя Эд Симмонс и Том Роулендз
(Chemical Brothers), пригласившие Келе исполнить одну из песен на своем новом альбоме «Push The Button».
Bloc Party часто называют «английским ответом» шотландцам Franz Ferdinand - тот же утонченный гитарный саунд, та же
фирменная британская меланхолия, тот же модный танцевальный бит. Сами музыканты приводят в числе своих вдохновителей
имена The Cure и The Strokes. Если учесть, что в свое время Franz Ferdinand определяли как «британский ответ The Strokes»,
то ничего удивительного в сравнениях талантливых новичков с главным открытием 2004-го года (i.e. Franz Ferdinand) нет.
На протяжении всей осени прошлого года Bloc Party колесили по Европе, где «разогревали» своих американских коллег Interpol,
а на конец февраля - начало марта у группы запланированы первые американские гастроли с заездом на знаменитый фестиваль
South by Southwest в Остине, Техас. Лето также обещает выдаться горячим - в очередь за Bloc Party выстроились все
крупнейшие европейские летние фестивали.

Безумно люблю эту группу! Одна из первых группу, которые я услышал в этом стиле.
