It had taken the awhile, but they were finally back in Kaeleer--just in the nick of time, too; Karla had her diplomatic meeting with the Queen of Arceria the following morning. Tara was a little sad to be leaving Francine and Katchoo. As much as she loved Karla and Warren and Raven, there was something to be said for staying in a place with Starbucks and WiFi.

But she was curious to see Kaeleer again, and there was that itch to stay on the move. She stepped out of the portal and glanced around the driveway, smile blossoming on her face as she spotted Karla.

"It is so good to see you again," she said, reaching for a hug.

Karla was going to give Tara that hug, squeezing tight before she even attempted words. "I've missed you," she said finally.

Not just Tara's sweetness, but the kind of calm level-headedness she brought to conversations. Tara was soothing to talk to and be around.

"It's good to see you, too. I'm so glad you called."

"I missed you too," Tara said, squeezing back. She meant it too: she missed Karla's strength, and some part of her would love to let Karla loose on her family, and watch the carnage fly. "I'm so glad you could have me. How are things here?"

Warren hadn't unfolded his wings from where they were pressed, flat against his back, since he'd gotten here. He also seemed to have developed a bit of a fondness for holding his hands in light fists, with his fingers against his legs. Totally casual. Totally comfortable. Totally.

It was entirely possible that he was going to attempt, possibly against his better judgement, to make a beeline for his room before any of the boyos could spot him. Because that was an excellent idea, right? But there was work to be done. Always, always work to be done, and he'd been away from it for weeks, now.

For a male his size, Lucivar could move with surprising speed when he wanted to. And seeing Warren--how could he miss him?--starting to edge carefully towards the stairs made Lucivar want to, oh yes.

"Hello, puppy," he said, giving Warren a wolfish grin. "I don't think you stopped to greet everyone. We've missed you."

Warren was afraid to look up. Looking up meant he'd see that grin. He knew what grin, and he knew what it meant, and so help him, he was not even nearly ready for the inevitable force of nature that he was about to get swept away by.

"There's a lot of work to do," he noted, pausing and turning his back to the wall. "Karla's meeting with the Arcerian Queen is tomorrow, and I've got a few weeks of backlog, now."
