This wasn't a family meeting. It was a war council. Karla had never seen Saetan look quite so grave and even Lucivar had left behind a lot of his customary bluster. They were ensconced in the study, waiting for Morton to arrive. He was past due, though no one was mentioning that.

Though she could see they were all thinking it, especially when they looked at her. )
Most of the reasons he could imagine had him pushing against the killing edge.
In an effort to keep his temper leashed, he caught the eye of the young male that had accompanied Karla to Dhemlan. If he was supposed to trust this male with her, he'd better get to know him, right? He cocked his head towards the door and raised an eyebrow.

Lucivar nodded. "Fair enough."
And that was that. Lucivar wasn't one for wasting words when he didn't have to.
"You mentioned powers that aren't Craft?" he asked instead. And chose to ask, rather than simply attacking to see for himself.
Lucivar was having a diplomatic day.

"How are these ships supposed to help you fight off angry males again?"

What? It seemed awfully expedient.
Lucivar eyed him a bit for that 'accessory' comment. "The Jewels serve as a reservoir for the power our bodies can't handle," he said idly. And with no more warning than that, called in a knife and tossed it at Ben.
Just checking!
