Somehow, Warren managed a smooth smile in the face of... what probably hadn't been intended as a threat, and yet...

"I wouldn't want you to go out of your way," he replied. "After all, I'm the one who is supposed to be supplying the delicious lunches around here."

No. Really. He insisted.

"So, are you in the mood to eat dessert first, today?"

"Aren't I pretty much always?" Karla said with a laugh, flinging herself onto the blanket and looking up at Warren with anticipation. "What is dessert today?"

It had been very hard not to peek into the basket and see all the goodies, it really had.

And, see, Warren was now thrilled that Karla was so easygoing about the order in which they ate, because he'd been kind of worried that dessert was going to get soggy, and when it was something so decadent, that simply wouldn't do.

... Especially not after the negotiating that he had to do with a particularly overzealous cheese grater in order to get a quadruple serving for pretty much right away.

"I was wondering if you'd never ask," he replied, grinning a little as he set the basket down, and then pulled out a container filled up with chocolate banana crepes.

Yes. Crepes. He totally went there.

There went any worries Dinah might have had about Karla's affections.

Karla just stared at them for a moment in reverent wonder. "They look sooo good," she breathed. "If those are as good as they look, I might die here and now."

But happy! Oh so happy!

The growling of her stomach broke through her reverie. "Can I have one?" she asked. "Right now?"
