"Hello?" he called out, knocking.

"She called me 'Mommy!'" Karla hissed.
The red-haired little girl looked up and grinned at both of them. "Daddy!" she said with a smile. "I looked for you everywhere yesterday, but you was hidin' in the Force."

Which meant that Jaenelle Mara had no problems skipping over to the door to open it and greet whatever visitors happened to be on the other side. "Come in," she said cheerfully.
Karla could only hope that this did not herald yet another unexpected child of hers. The voice was awfully high-pitched.
