It hadn't taken Cassidy much preparing to decide to take Karla up on her invitation. She had spent a great deal of the break with her family and when the invitation came, Devra had pushed her to go.

So after making sure she had gifts and sweet treats for everyone, Cassidy was cheerfully exploring and greeting everyone she knew.

Raven smiled. "Yes, I always liked her classes," she said. "I miss having her as a teacher."

"You should visit her. I always learn so much from her," she said with a nod. "I hope that I can use the things I learn in the future as an assigned Queen."

"Perhaps I will some day," Raven said, her eyes growing distant for a moment. "Fandom seems so far away sometimes. I do not think I know many people there anymore. So many I cared for have gone their own way now."

Cassidy bit her lip and then nodded. "I know. I've had to say goodbye to so many people."

"Too many," Raven murmured, clamping down on a flash of pain. Then she managed to find a smile again. "But that makes it all the sweeter to see them again at times such as this."

She quickly nodded. "That is very true. When we have the chance to see each other in relaxing times, it makes it even better."

"We did not celebrate anything like Christmas or Winsol or Yule in Azarath," Raven said. "It has been a joy to me to learn of these traditions from my friends."

"Winsol had just ended for me when I received Karla's invitation." Cassidy laughed softly. "I've been trying for three years to explain Christmas to my brother, but I think something keeps getting lost in my description."

"It is a difficult concept to explain," Raven said, nodding. "It means different things to so many people. Some embrace the religious aspect, others prefer a celebration of family and friends without the religion.

"I think it's the miracle part that a great many of us do not understand. To us, every child is a miracle."

"They are, are they not?" Raven said with a sad little smile. "And perhaps one day this hall will be full of little miracles as well."

"I hope so," Cassidy murmured. "Most here would make excellent parents."

"I am sure they will," Raven said. "I have met Karla and Warren's potential future children, and I hope to Azar they do come to pass."
