well, one more ice cream thing...
Guinness was attempted again, for the third time. It's a marked improvement.
I used a modified version of
this recipe - I doubled it (except egg yolks), used half-and-half instead of milk, and since I didn't have a full 2 cups of half-and-half left, I replaced the missing amount with extra cream. I also boiled the hell out of the Guinness, to prevent my prior problems, and it seems to have paid off. It's not icy, and has a pretty good taste to it. I'd even be willing to put it up against that at
Brendan O'Neill's, which tasted slightly more like Coffee than this did. This you can tell is stout, but it's still somewhat on the subtle side.
I think we'll try using Left Hand Milk Stout next time we revisit the recipe.
