Sceval, Kaeleer (Fourth Full Day in Kaeleer)

Apr 04, 2010 21:23

For their last full day in Kaeleer, Karla had a special surprise planned for everyone. Well, it probably wasn’t a surprise, per se, as she was pretty sure that everyone had guess what was coming. Because, seriously, you couldn’t have a trio to Kaeleer that didn’t culminate in a trip to Sceval. Not that she told anywhere where they were going, even ( Read more... )

Francine? Not wearing the boots with the three-inch heels today, thank you.

Not slouching exactly either, but she did sort of have to slow down her stride a bit for people who were still seven inches shorter than her. Cough.

The big smile? It might be the company, or it might be the honey-pear she was munching on, or it might be both.

Oh, you and those seven inches could bite her, Francine.

Well. You could do that any time, but now might not be the best time to -- yes. Ahem.

"Good to know you're perky enough for both of us," Katchoo told her with a good deal less grumble in her voice than anyone else was going to get out of her on this hike.

Francine's teeth might. Francine's seven inches w--- you know, there's no way to not make that even dirtier. Besides, she hadn't actually dared shop in that section of 'Dite's. Yet.

"How could I not be? Everything around me is beautiful!" No fluffy skirt today, but there might still have been some spinning.

Nope. Reeeeeeeally no way to not make that dirtier.

"Everything? Aw, gee, and here I thought --" Katchoo stepped away a foot or so to give her extra spinning room, being rather fond of keeping her eyes where they were -- "I was drowning out the rest of it."

Extra spinning room is nice and all, but eventually she was going to spin into Katchoo anyway. Luckily it was more or less a controlled spin, one that ended with her hands on Katchoo's shoulders and Francine trying to catch her breath from laughing.

"I never said some things weren't beautifuler than others." Was that a word? It was probably a word. It sounded like a word.

It was a word now. Thus spake Katchoo's ego.

"That oughta teach me not to be more specific," she declared, reaching out to slip her arms around Francine's waist.

Firefox thinks it's a word. Firefox is our friend. At the moment.

You really shouldn't let Francine try to move along the trail and keep up while walking backwards with your arms around her waist, Katchoo. It would only end in sadness and bruises of the butt.

"You are much beautifuler than that leaf." Francine pointed.

Hey now, not all bruises of the butt are . . . er, anyway. Yes. Katchoo either realized that or read the narrative; either way, she let go. After a second. Give her a second to enjoy this, will you?

"Me versus a leaf. Don't hold back with the compliments much, do you, Francie?"

"I'm just saying! It's a start. I can't name everything you're beautifuler than; it would take me all day!"

Oh the grammar: it's all downhill from here, kids.

"You could keep naming stuff until we get wherever the hell it is we're going," Katchoo suggested. Or, you know, until Arthur came along to pester her.

Pfft, grammar. Katchoo could give grammar half a dozen suggestions of what it could do with itself, and all of them would have to be spelled with asterisks. Poor asterisks.

Francine was walking backwards still --
well, less walk, more a frisk --
now wasn't she a silly girl, her little* ?

"Okay. You are beautifuler than that bird. And those rocks. And Arthur's hair."

*It's not a footnote, dumbass.

"Arthur's hair?" Katchoo aimed a light swat at her.

The fact that she objected to that, rather than the rocks, might be noteworthy. Or it could just be chalked up to it being the last item listed.

"Hey now! You've got to admit the boy has pretty hair." And he'd probably argue with her claim that Katchoo's was prettier, but tough noogies.

Katchoo snorted and ruffled her own hair . . . because it needed help being messy, apparently. "Not within his earshot, I won't."

"Well, in his earshot, you can just gloat because yours is prettier." See? Everything worked out right for everyone. Or maybe she was just babbling. "Also you are beautifuler than my new boots that I'm not wearing because I like my ankles in one piece each."

Babbling? Oh, just maybe. Just maybe.

"Technically, Francie, your ankles come in multiple pieces . . ."
