The Keep, Ebon Askavi, Kaeleer OR Nharkhava, Kaeleer (Third Full Day in Kaeleer)

Apr 04, 2010 03:43

Today there were two choices for visits-three, if one counted staying at the Hall, which was always a possibility. The first was a trip to Ebon Askavi, the Black Mountain, the home of Witch. The last, of course, was more historical than fact, though Jaenelle did have a suite there, left over from when she was a little girl. It was the center of ( Read more... )

Francine really ought to know better than to drink the wine at harvest festivals, but how often was she going to get the chance to drink honey-pear wine, and spin around in a new Kaeleeran dress to make the skirt flare like the girliest girl ever?

Probably for the rest of her life if she kept in touch with Karla, but shh. She was drinking and spinning (and occasionally flopping down for a rest, rosy-cheeked and out of breath). Don't harsh the mellow with facts!

During one of her resting moments a young man stepped up and bowed. He was wearing a yellow jewel, a brown jacket, and a smile obviously supported by honey-pear wine.

"Good evening." He held back a slight hiccup, so that it was barely noticeable. "Could I, perhaps, have the pleasure of your c'mpany for the next dance?"

And everyone everywhere was perversely thankful that Francine's experience in the mental version of Karla's world had been at Briarwood instead of in Glacia, or he'd never have got "Okay!" followed by a cough and "I mean, sure. I mean yes, I'd be honored."

"Wonderful!" He offered her a hand. "May I help you rise, Lady?"

If she tugged on him too hard he'd probably fall over with her.

Oh good, this was going to go well. "Thank you....?" The question mark wasn't entirely verbal.

Even Francine could sense the dubiousness of the project, which might be what little of the Sight she had kicking in or might be having been Francine Peters for eighteen years.

However, she took the offered hand and made the attempt to rise without ending up in a sprawl.

On first attempt, he did nearly fall over, but then he clamped his hands to her one and set his feet.

To the cheers of several other drunken young men, the attempt was successful, and he bowed while kissing her hand. "My name is Terec. With a C." One of his hands formed into a C. "Not to be confused with my father, who is Terek with a K." Carefully, he moved his fingers till only two were pointing up, and his thumb rested between them. "And the honor, Lady, is mine." He motioned toward the dancers. "Shall we, then?"

Eep. Francine was torn between charmed and eep. "Hi, Terec with a C. I'm Francine, also with a C, and I'd love to dance with you, but do I have to warn you that my girlfriend will kill you if you try anything."

She pointed. Because Katchoo was totally around here somewhere. To the tiny, skinny blonde, yes.

It wasn't the tiny, skinny blonde that made Terec draw himself up as tall as he could. "Lady, I swear on the darkness and my honor that I mean you no dis - disre - harm." He nodded, to cover a tiny belch. "I ask for a dance, only a dance, and a dance only." Another nod. "And maybe a tiny kiss after."

"Dances yes, kisses no. Those are reserved, sorry," said she, who wasn't at all.
