Info Post Addition
Though the actual info post is over here, I wanted to add this as well, since I've never done it but really ought to.
So, Karla can read psychic scents, which, like so much else in bishop's world, the limits of which are maddeningly vague. People generally get whatever information from them as are necessary, while completely missing other bits of information that someone else used a psychic scent to pick up just two chapters ago.
Grr.
Anyway, as a good shorthand, psychic scents can tell emotions, someone's general psychic strength (or magical power level), caste if the individual in question is from her world, and generally any kind of odd 'Otherness' someone is or has, even if it's just 'not quite human.' Since most of the people here come from backgrounds far beyond her ken, she won't necessarily know what your character is, even if she picks up that he or she is out of the ordinary.
Mostly, in-game anyway, Karla uses psychic scents as both emotional signatures (she can tell who you are through the door, and can tell who have been in a specific place recently) and as emotional gauges. OOCly, that means she can respond to emotional narration--if your character is pretending to be calm but secretly SEETHING WITH RAGE, she's likely going to notice.
Well, assuming OOC permission anyway. Hence this post. Please let me know where your character falls on the 'can be read' continuum.
