Chapter 3

Ianto couldn’t recall ever having a hangover this bad before. He was sure even his hair and nails hurt. He thought if he tried to move he would throw up everything he had ever eaten in his whole life. He tried to remember how he got here, wherever here was but nothing was coming to mind, except how much he hurt.

He sighed as he felt a cool clothe run over his face, and wet his lips. He stuck out his tongue to try and catch a little of the water as it ran over his mouth.

“Just lay there,” a soft voice said beside his ear.

He HHHKJH?BJ

He knew he should fight the strange voice but there was something familiar and soothing about the gentle words and touch.

“You’re feeling a little sick and sore. But if you just remain still it will eventually pass. I promise.”

Ianto knew the voice would keep his promise. And he would do the same. He nodded his agreement but all it did was create a lightning bolt that shot through his whole body.

“I told you to stay put, and that meant even your head,” the voice said.

Ianto wanted to know what had happened but opening his mouth to speak, was too much work, and frankly the idea of moving scared him.

The voice answered his question as if he could read his mind. “I’m sure you want to know what happened to you. You’re suffering from time sickness. It occurs to most first time travellers who go by manipulator.”

It was nice to know what had happened but the words the voice said were making no sense but more of the cool water running over his face and lips felt wonderful.

“You should rest. Try and get more sleep. Right now you’re very dehydrated from the time travelling.  You are getting fluids and have been given some medication for the nausea and the pain. It will work soon. But for now it will be best if you get more sleep.”

Sleep? That was the one thing he didn’t think he would have any trouble with. He nodded slightly, just a tilt of his chin but this time it didn’t feel like his head would explode.

A firm warm hand gave his arm a squeeze.

“Sleep well, gorgeous. I can’t wait to hear you talk again.” There was a gentle kiss to his forehead. It all seemed very recognizable. The last thing Ianto heard before slipping away was, “love the suit”.
