The plain fact is, nationally-speaking, we love to hold ourselves up against the yardstick of the United States, usually so we can select particular points to crow about. So what if the United States has ten times our population, is the world's only 'hyperpower

Hear hear! I'd rather have a system that works good for the general public than a system that's good for a small elite minority but not so good for the rest of us.
