Almost Hopeless

I shouldn't listen to talk radio. It just depresses me. Its amazing that you can ask a democratic socialist if its right to force people at gunpoint to pay for another person's welfare, and they'll say no. Then they say that "they feel" helping other people is the right thing to do. That's all well and good, but I won't force other people to ( Read more... )

Unsurprisingly, I would wager that I know exactly which talk radio show (and which caller) prompted this entry.

As a point of observation--purely anecdotal, mind you--it seems to me that people who favor voluntary socialism do so because they are hard-working and honest, and they assume that anybody in a voluntary socialist system will share those qualities. People who favor involuntary socialism seem to do so because they assume that members of any socialist system will not be hard-working and honest or because they themselves are not hard-working and honest (or both).

yes yes. That caller that was on Boortz has me depressed today. It boggles my mind how people can make two completely contradictory statements and not even flinch. It reminds me of the programming I see in some followers of religion.
