Ported my phone number rather painlessly

Pretty much what the subject says. I called AT&T around 10 AM this morning, gave them my temp phone number, main phone number, and Verizon account number, and they started the porting process. The rep then said, and I quote, "Verizon said that the porting will be complete by 10:19 AM". Not 10:20, but 10:19. These people are detail-oriented! :-P ( Read more... )

It's great if you want to do more things than talk on the phone. (SMS, Twitter, maps/GPS, etc.)

If there's an Apple Store near you, they usually have iPhones that you can play with.

You can triple the battery life by changing one setting:

Go to settings and Fetch New Data. Set it to fetch every 30 minutes and turn off Push. This will check for new emails periodically instead of keeping a running connection with the 3G at all times and sucking the battery to nothing in a few hours.

I fetch manually.

But simply browsing the web for some minutes will drain the battery significantly.

Though I'm looking at getting another one that actually has a charge indicator. This one does not.
